nice rig.

probably will go for a bit more than the original sale price.

It looks nice but I'm pretty confused about what govt. entity used this and left it looking like this? Unless repo but then again this looks like it has been stored and taken care of better then most.

Is it a 1975 or 1976?

Did 1975 models have barn doors in early production and were first to covert to 4 on floor and 2F engine?

I shop govliquidation and govdeals regularly. That particular location in Califorina sells classic cars constantly. They usually have 10+ classic cars/trucks/military vehicles on the site at any given time. If you look at auctions by location and go to Auburn, CA you can see all of the lots available. Google the address and it is the municipal airport.

Private owner and the rig has a reserve so your not going to get it inexpensive. I would say 20+- thousand

I went and looked at this today.

govliquidation is really a misnomer. Just a cool guy with a good business. Has alot of neat old stuff. Sort of specializes in the military and 1930s or older stuff. Alot of consignment sales and such. Im sure his auction is to avoid ebay fees etc.

He likes to buy / consign clean stuff that may need a little work. alot less drama seems to be the model. He does about 10-15 vehicles a month and the oddball helicopter or other consignment item he may run into. Im guessing he grabs some military vehicles at some of the gov. auctions as thats cheapest and he says they move. The deals are probably to be had on consignment or estate stuff cuz he doesnt have a floor to price- just what it fetches and id bet he gets his %age for making the sale.

This 40 was pretty clean. usual engine leaks. header that looked to be tuned length. weber carb not orig. top was painted ( not gelcoated) which led me to believe body was painted possibly at some point. There was definite signs of touch up on the front bib- but i couldnt really determine if it was respray at some point/ vs touchups -- but if it was resprayed-possibly 10-15 yrs ago. cuz paint looked fairly close to orig. as far as scratches/ use. Id also guess that engine mileage could be 132k not 32k. But theres a chance it could be 32k. as it looks very unused on the inside (drivers seats -wear items)....but then again- nothing a new seat wouldnt fix. Its a 2 owner vehicle that sounds like second owner ( that he bought it from) had done the winch- front bumper and engine mods. rear spring sag also pointed me to more 132k vs 32k miles. Other than that- fairly straight forward.

He had some cool pics of vehicles hes sold- badass lookin volvoc303 that he said drove great. about 5 cruisers - jeeps commandos - a kewl jeep FC military one sat behind the 40 that was getting new rings. Killer 1919 28hp Dodge Bros truck with 22" steelies. And one of the best driving cars in his shop was a Studebaker that was sold and headed to Korea apparently.
