D, I use 3" x 2" x .188" wall. I'm in for the night, but will take some pics of the spindle welds for you. I cut the 1.5" hole in the shell and weld both sides of the spindle penetration. I grind the "outside" weld flush with the shell and leave the "inside" weld as is. Then when you know your angle of the bumper, you can cut the spindle down and just weld it to the cap or shell on the "inside" as well.

I'll shoot you a pic tomorrow.

GO AMERICAN LEAGUE!!

No plans as of yet. Although that can change anytime the princess gets a wild hair :) hit me up if ya get out this way!

J - amazing work!!

Previously you had mentioned the possibility of cutting your rear quarters. I curious on how you would tie into your bumper for some kind of slider/protection?

Mike, I'd build a new bumper and make it a high profile style. Take the cut line where yours and Johnny's is and roll it all the way around ( have to run a 3 x 2 board as the slider) . Then tie the "slider" to the frame rail with a piece of 3 x 2 angle to meet up to the frame and probably 1 1/2 x .250 square as a runner/support to connect the slider to the angle.

The rear "face" would be 4 to 4.250" so I could still incorporate a 2" receiver as usual..

I'll be building it in the near future.. HA!

The one I'm building now is a model and I'll probably sell it, truth be told..

Not much to report.. got a case of FleetGuard LF3345 filter for the 4BT and finished up most of the bottom end of my customers bumper. I hope to get started on my front tomorrow and play with the sliders as well.

Cheers,

J

Super clean lines!!! Wow. Nice work bro!

you should also be getting some parts in the mail today. Goss is gonna be even more of a beast soon.

The 4.11 3rds just arrived Mike. Thanks..

I'm gonna keep the 4.56s in for now. Once I get everything dialed in and armored up I will take a trip and burn a tank of diesel.. By my calcs that will be roughly a 1242 mile trip on one tank (54 gal tank) of fuel.. Then I'll decide if I want to swap 3rds...

sounds like a good plan. I need to drive mine on the highway more to see how the 5th gear thing is gonna work. I might take it to drill this weekend to see how it does from Austin to Ft Worthless.

^^ thanks J. Looks great!

Would you recommend a gusset underneath as well??

A gusset will give rigidity to help with flex and stress on the spindle. I box mine in to give them the most strength. Once you put a swingout and tire... the "wings" of a bumper tend to flex a little. This will help reduce/eliminate that flex.
