Yeah Slee sells the same arm, but for $100 more. The steering arms and pitman arm need to be drilled out to 7/8", then you drop these inserts in that have the proper taper: http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/INSSTEER.html

Need to weld those in too?

Sounds like your cheap upgrade is costing you more with $24 worth of inserts and a steering arm on top of the ruff stuff steering kit, though still cheaper then the blue torch high steer kit. :meh:

Those don't have to be welded.

It's not too bad IMO, about $350 in parts for getting that damn tie rod away from the radius arms, running much stronger TREs and heavy duty DOM tubing. If you get 4 of those heavy duty 80 TREs to do the drag link also you're looking at $340. And you still have the stock wimpy tubing, and a tie rod that rubs on the radius arms.

Blue Torch sells a high steer kit for the 80s? Didn't see anything on their site...

SH!T, I meant hellfire fabs.

Looks like a pretty good upgrade for what your getting, I think high steer on the 80 would be nice, though for me it I'd have to check it wouldnt hit the motor somewhere or something else, axle upgrades in my circumstances should be a higher priority. :hillbilly:

The 6" I did was wavy until I put in a read pan hard rod drop bracket.

Ah Hellfire, yeah those are nice, spendy though! I don't think I'll ever need a setup that serious. But for $400 more Slee's hi-steer arms are nice potential upgrade since I'd already have the ABS knuckles and RHD steering arm. I would just need to swap out the TREs for heims.

So since we are on the topic, what is the purpose behind the high steer? Slee's kit mentions off road only.

On other topic today I ordered:
Ironman springs, shocks, panhards
Metaltech caster plates, upper links (already have lowers waiting)
Slee tie rod and draglink bars with ends
Bump stops
Breathers/ ebrake drop
Sway bar drop
OEM control arm bushings
Radiator and A/C condenser (different part of the build obviously)

So I'll get it all put in along with the axle rebuild and report back how it is :)

High steer kits are good for a few reasons, they get your steering linkages up and out of the way to keep them safer from rocks and obstacles, on a lifted truck the drag link which runs between the steering box and passenger side knuckle will be more of an angle and less horizontal then the stock setup, when this link is at more of an angle when you hit bumps it becomes slightly more horizontal and pushes the passenger side knuckle out, also known as bump steer. So less bump steer, prevents damage, looks cool sometimes too. :hillbilly:
