NOTE: This is a general use stand-in for the OEM SST 09843-18020 used for setting ignition timing, checking ABS, transmission and airbag diagnostics.

Get it here: http://absolute-wits-end.com/diagnostic-port-jumper-wire/

I know what you are thinking, "A fancy jumper wire? For the Diagnostics port? I just use a paperclip". I use to be the same way.

There are two incidents that occurred within the past three months that forced a rethink of the jumper wire:
1. Person A needs some help tuning their truck before a smog check. Truck needs to be at 3deg Ignition Timing before heading out. Person A puts in the paperclip and starts the truck. Assuming its in diagnostics mode we proceed to set timing. Can't get it set correctly. Turns out the paperclip wasn't in the terminal enough to make contact, it was off to one side. Try again.
2. Person B calls in a panic that their truck is driving like hell after being serviced. Pop the hood and eventually find that the paperclip was still in the diagnostic port. Person B had forgotten the paperclip was even there.

So why not prevent dumb mistakes like this? The Metri-Pack male terminals give you nice, positive engagement and the length of the cable, coupled with the bright red coating, lets you know its still there and needs to be removed. Simple and easy and no need to hunt for a paperclip. Of course we threw in a paperclip or two as part of our Fuse and Accessory Kit but thats because everyone should have a paperclip handy :)

Just a reminder since the topic has come up, yes the blades are carefully selected to work with any OBD2 equipped vehicle and any vehicle with a diagnostics port. The jumper MUST be placed IN the metal clips on the diagnostic port and NOT just inside the blank gap in the plastic BEHIND the metal clips. Yes this was a real customer service issue :P

I LOVE this thing. It's very functional and it looks cool too! (especially in my Wits End APU)

Hi all,

My thoughts as well Jim, but in my case for GM TBI (also OBD 1.)

Regards,

Alan

Looks like it should also work with the diagnostic port of a 3FE (OBD1).

Just sold my last one in stock. Going to make another batch this weekend to make sure I don't miss any orders.

contribution is coming wits' end(s) way!!! Thanks Joey for making jumper wires look cool(again). Paperclips keep Wits' End name out Your Mother Fooking mouf .
Sound of paperclip getting slapped

I’m continually shocked how popular this thing is. But then I’m also shocked at how often a nylon coated paperclip fails 😂

After having made about 100 little u-shaped wires to test the ECU and losing most of them.... as a 3FE owner you KNOW this is a good product. When you start finding the little home made u-shaped wires in your laundry, you know you are in trouble. :hillbilly: As silly as it may seam... its a nice tool. Thanks for making life a little better for us 3FE owners. :D
