I am 1/2 way done with the third member swap. I have everything pulled apart and I'm about to slip the welded one in place. Should go back together faster then it came apart. At least thats the theory. Then I might be able to go test it out in the next day or two.
PS Chuck get some work done on your cruiser.

I just took the transfer case to Be welded. Will post pics. I'm just planning on using it as a backup. Will be leaving to go to NC tomorrow to pick up the other one. And hopefully install it on sat and the locker on sun. That will give me a week to work out the links.

When I tore the tranfer case apart last night I was amazed at the fact no damage had been done to the gears or bearings. They look brand new. I'm also amazed at how simple the transfer case really is. Not many parts. Should be easy to put back together.

Looks like the whole weekend just like the last two will be devoted to the LC.

I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without an air ratchet. That thing is awesome and worth every penny.

Here you go.

Jealous of what? The big ass hole in my transfer case. :crybaby:

By the way some of you might want to contact RK and see if he has any parts you might want. I'll be there tomorrow.

I'll be talking to him tonight and see what he has left. And post it tonight. I have no idea what he has but it's worth asking.

I'll be seeing him tomorrow. So if he does have something you want shipping would only be a beer. I think thats a fair price.

Hey where did you get that bad boy welded at and was it cheap, I have a crack in the one sittin in the carport and need to get it welded. Thanks

60$ if you think that is cheap. I personally don't. But he did work 2 hrs on it and he is only a couple hundred yard from my house. I can see me using hime quite a lot since he can weld anything and has good equipment. He's around 60 and is fun to talk with.

He thougfht I was crazy for putting the trans case on the hitch n haul with out a strap even if I was only driving down the road. Hell I throw stuff back there all the time and never had stuff fall off yet.

The tcase housing is just steel right? If so I could take it into the sculpture shop and weld it just the same. Thats where I welded my rear end. Course once I drive it around this weekend we'll see if I'm still talking.

The case is definetly AL and AL is a pain in the ass to weld.

Aluminium Weld

Geeez, Marshall, that's a big hole!

I suffered the same thing with my Xfer case and had a welder put another 3/8 inch plate and weld it. It works fine, so far.

Any day now I should receive my lift kit (BDS).
