I havent really payed alot of attention to the whole idea of correct gearing for increased tire sizes, that said, does a chart exist or some sort of a reference guide. I currently am running 32 11.50 15s and I am starting to get tired of the DD.

Re-gear for 32s? Most don't but best option is to find some fj62 3rds (4:11) or do a complete axle swap (far less than a grand) try pick'n'pulls or craigslist.

What is your goal?
If you want to maintain the stock ratio just take a ratio of the new tire size compare to the stock size, increase the gear ratio by the same amount or whatever available gears are closest.

Some people also increase the diff gearing to get lower gearing for the trail. The PO of my truck installed 4.88 gears and 33" tires, great for crawling but a PITA on the road.

Other people leave the gearing alone when they increase the tire size the result is called "rubber overdrive".

The master install kit for differential gears is about $200 and you are usually looking at 3 to 4 hours of shop time at whatever rate your local gear place charges. So anywhere from $500 to $800 around here. Add the cost of gears to that.

There are lots of posts on here about gearing and tire sizes...and prolly as many opinions are there are posts...suggest you do a search...

Here's my experience...keep in mind I live in Seattle, which is pretty hilly, I drive into the mountains often (long freeway miles + driving up steady mtn grades).

  • I went from stock to 31X10.50's. Kept the stock gears. Worked fine. No issues.
  • Went to 33's, stock gears. Worked great on flatter terrain. Hill starts were tough on the clutch. Needed lower gears for off-road. Long mtn grades were also tough as the gearing was never right.
  • Found some 4.11's at a good price. Love this combo. Only way to be better would be with a 5 speed.
My two cents worth.

As said it all depends where u r and what u do. I had 35's for a while (broke and got a flat so I put on what I had tell I could afford to fix it) w/3.73 but I do have a 5spd so....
