I had mine done at Traveler's Rest South Carolina site. It was done in November 06. The price I was qouted was $300, but when it was done, the bill came to $250. I talked to April at the Traveler's Rest site.

Bookmarked that. Thanx.

Take a quick trip down to South Atlantic Galvanizing in Claxton, GA. That's where I had mine done in late 2005. Although they focus on industrial stuff, they were very easy to deal with. Cost was $250 simply because it was they're base cost for anything up to 600 lbs.

And you can pick up a fruit cake while you're there!!

Galvanizing Issues

My friend here had his Corvette chassis gavanized - after that experience he learned:
Most all the threaded holes in the frame had to be re-tapped because the galanizing coat made them smaller holes.
Corrosion issues - rust would attach any bolt in the galvanized hole, and quickly. He had to replace all bolts with stainless steel.
Good Luck anyway.

$250 was my total cost except for fuel to get it there and pick it up. That was just their minimum charge based on a minimum weight of 600 lbs. There really was no prep. They went straight into the molten zinc bath to burn off paint and other residue and then back to step one of the process of acid dipping etc. The only problem was the cast shock towers had a few bad spots where the galvanizing didn't stick. But they had told me up front that they would be iffy.

Call around $500 is very expensive, should be $200-300. You can prevent galvanization by putting high temp silicone in places you don't want it, it won't adhere, so threaded areas etc. A body would be tough but is doable. Land Rover guys get their bulkheads (firewalls) galvanized frequently. I would not galvanize a body though...
