Good ol' red rusty is about to meet its maker I think. Very sad day for me tomorrow: The very first truck I ever "really" wheeled in is leaving my possession.

Unless anyone wants the good, factory SA, chassis and cab to build a beater, there will be one less 1983.5 2nd gen truck in the world very soon. :frown:

I may regret this, but is it free to a good home or are you selling it? Is it just a rolling chassis, no drivetrain? I need it like another hole in my head, but I could probably scrape up a motor, trans and t-case for it.... Erin wants something to wheel and this might be a good project for her. Not sure how I would transport it, but I might work something out, if the price is right. Might even paint it green and call it the "Gecko II"

Steve I hate that the red truck is going away :frown: We drove it and my truck on 33's most of the way up lower 2 and slick rock. I wish we took some pictures but I think the only evidence is a VHS tape my dad has somewhere. It was mostly of it is me not doing what my spotter tells me to do AKA bump it.

Sadly that truck is a rusty piece of crap so I understand why you're getting rid of it. Speaking of old times do you remember riding with this guy? You're in the passenger seat.

Looks like a good way to break a leg (and a birf).

I remember Lower 2 & Slickrock very well. I was very proud of how far we got up Lower 2 (me running AT's and no lockers I might add). And I remember Slickrock cause that's where we all broke. I broke the J-arm, you broke the parking brake, and the other Josh broke the lower knuckle (pretty much the same as Nick a few weeks ago, but not as badly). I do have some videos somewhere; they're pretty old so I may be able to get them loaded up somewhere.

Yeah, the red truck was in bad shape, but only the bed. Not to say the cab was nice, but it was barely rusty at all where as the bed was pretty much held together with the remaining paint.

I remember the above moment/picture quite well too actually. Going down upper 2 with Mark, I think after we'd just winched everyone else down and were going last. To those who weren't there, no, we didn't go over - miraculously! The slider hit the rock right next to me and JUST stopped it. Him slamming on the brakes as it began to go over didn't help matters I think. :meh:

Well I'm not sure what's going to happen to it now. The kid that got it was originally going to part it and scrap it very soon after. Now he says he has a place to store it so it might not go away so quickly. That being the case, I don't know if I'll be getting the frame back soon or at all. But I have another truck, a 79LWB 1st gen, that was my project truck that I need to get rid of also. It'd be similar to the 84 in condition but it is already disassembled and been stored under cover since. If interested, let me know; it'd be ALMOST free. :) (And it's located in Woodstock, not Memphis)

:hhmm:I may need to assess my situation and get back to you. We have a contract pending on some property and I may be spending my free time clearing and grubbing this fall. May leave little time for this type of project. Might still be a great rig for Erin to learn to wheel in.

No worries. I fixed the original post for any future readers.

Old picture of Teds truck

Was poking around in some of my old pics and thought I would repost what Ted's Truck looked like in 2008 for all the new folks in the club. 2008-Nov-019 copy.jpg
Talk about big changes.....
Maybe Ted can post a good recent picture....
I did not officially witness him driving a trail at GSMTR as I could not run some of the difficult trails....

Where was that at? Thanks for the props Andrew but frankly I'd say Nick's rig has undergone a bigger change than mine.

Mine now: Taken by Jason in Tn a few weeks back

Awwww, sad 80. Has he found a front axle for it yet? I am still looking around up here for him. Dang I didn't know it was such a clean straight 80 such a short time ago...

I wouldnt have ever called my 80 clean or straight. I paid $1200 for it and it had no fenders, missing door locks, and missing most of a front PS door handle. It was an off-road beater from the time I bought. It just happened to be road worthy when I purchased it...

We can rebuild him, it will be just like Steve Austin.
Man.... that was such a great show when I was young

Gee Thanks TED

Anyone ever use peak global lifetime antifreeze in your Toyota?
I am overdue for a radiator flush.

"I believe I may have scrubbed." lol
