Dang't, I was afraid of Nick's canvas top ripping off from being loaded that direction. Did it get torn up or did y'all catch it early?
Carnage report:
Nick: No spark, engine won't run; Front knuckle destroyed, possibly axle ball and Long marred up during recovery; winch cable frayed during recovery.
Sam: 1 birf
Hunter: 4 windows and minor engine problems.
Feel free to amend the list with anything I missed.
Thanks for the additions Sam; I knew I'd forgotten stuff.Nick clearly got the worst out of the group. Seemed to go rapidly downhill after the truck shut off on 6.
I also lost one shock (well, 1 shock bolt really, the shock was still there)
Hopefully Hunter learned his lesson about trying to wheel a 40 at GMP with a hard top.
Edit: Also didn't Nick lose a shock or break the mount or something before all that other stuff? We were joking about having 1 full set between us.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I like the occasional hardship. As fun as wheeling is, it might get boring if things like this never happened to make us stop and think, use our brains to come up with creative solutions and, best of all, to make us stop and associate with one another from time to time. At the time, some people might not have had much fun, but in hindsight, I enjoyed the whole event and will enjoy telling the stories from it around campfires for years to come. After a ride like we just all had, I think we need to start another hobby. Something that requires less work and effort. Saturday was a long night.

But yes, I do agree Sid, could've done with only one major issue at a time - no argument there! "When it rains, it pours" in this case.

Sounds like the clock is ticking on another sale...

No, I don't think any time soon. I was very stressed went my truck was broke, but It always makes you feel good to have your buddies come together and help you out. (Thanks John and Ben.)
And when it was Nick's truck, I could tell he was stressed, but you and Steve are right, it was fun to "pull together" and accomplish something.
I guess I was just commenting on the fact that it all happened in one weekend.
Saturday night was just a glowing example of this group and wheeling, we'll always come together in times like this and always be willing to do whatever we have to do to get someone repaired, towed off the trail or just get back to camp and get a plan together to get someone out. Nick this could have happened to any one of us or anyone at the park during this ride and the results would have been the same. Everyone gets out nobody will be left behind. The comradery always amazes me and it was a pleasure to help and I'd do it again in a hot minuet.

I feel bad that I didn't look at it closer after we got it off of 6. At a glance I thought the steering arm was broken but turned out it was built at that angle and I just wasn't used to seeing that. Little did I know it actually was about to fall apart. If I'd only inspected it about 12" closer or for about 10 more seconds!! Sorry Nick. If it makes ya feel any better, I had pretty much the same issue going on with the Gecko, but because my studs are up top, no carnage ensued for me.In hind sight we should've just pulled the tires and towed it out like we ended up doing hours later. :whoops:
