So far we know:

G pack: has a tail gate with electric lock on the tail gate only, LSD and optioned AC. Under driver seat heater. Nothing else really special that I can recall?

GX: electric windows, full sized mirrors and all doors. Solenoid 4WD with LSD. Tail gate only.
Optioned AC?
All 2 seat front with centre console?

GXL: all of the above for GX plus all chrome trim incl. gutter and window trim, mirrors etc. I'm not sure if the GX has chrome trim or not.

Sahara: high top with split AC incl. fridge console front and rear and roof console.
Better seats incl. padded fronts, split middle and added rear row.
Not sure what else.

White lighting: GX plus grill, bullbat and flares painted white and momo steering wheel and gear knob.

Please please please update so we can keep track and for the love of god if anyone has an original sales brochure break it out!

On the topic if any Aussies want to identify on the Aussie owners thread so if there is an opportunity to get all these models together we can make it happen.

Wasn't the G pack the one with the barn/ambulance doors

What about VX. it's got ac in the rear, frige/freezer in the centre, split rear seats, third row of seats and a high roof. I think it could be

one step down from the Sahara.

Found this on the web, don't know how accurate it is.
There were over 2500 variations of the 60 series Land Cruiser sold around the world. Option packages were available in some markets called the G, GX, VX, GXL, and Sahara.

I think the VX is the premium but I've only ever seen it in high top sahara and I don't think I've seen the VX badge in anything but 24v but I expect I'm wrong.

Mine is a vx with a
normal roof,ac but only in the front, chrome moulding, lsd, velour seats, everything electric

VX is jap spec import 24volt~
Sahara is aussie
Sahara and VX are in essence the same just badged differently.
Another thing, GXL had option for pto winch and cable lockers.
Riddle me this..why does the G come with a rear underseat heater and the GXL doesn't?

My VX is only 12v.
There is a difference in chair height between the models I think that's why the under seat heater was removed

This thread is raising more questions than answers! I've had a G pack and from what I can recall they were only round headlight models and the change over was probably the same time the GX GXLs came out.

Does anyone own a G past 87 or a GX GXL pre 87?

Also the heater was under the drivers seat so it's possible it may be the height thing because I don't think I'd fit one under my 90' GXL.

The whole low roof 12v non sahara VX thing is spinning me out!

Surely Toyota Australia has archives of sales brochures somewhere????

I had an 83 G. The seat height compared to my 88 VX is huge. The VX is a twin headlight.

So far we know:
GX: electric windows, full sized mirrors and all doors. Solenoid 4WD with LSD. Tail gate only.
Optioned AC?
All 2 seat front with centre console?

GX, just like you listed, but with chrome trim incl. gutter and window trim and front light surrounds. Never seen mid console in Finland, maybe there is some differences in accessories by countries. Central locking and rear heater also.

So far I've seen no difference from the GX to the GXL other than your mention of the under seat heater HoJo.
Maybe it's a year thing?

Does anyone own a GX outside of 87' 88'? Or a GXL outside of 89' 90'?
