Hey guys, I'm looking to put some 1.5" wheel spacers on the 80. Do you suggest "hub-centric" or will regular lug centric be fine? Kind of a dumb question I know.. Thanks

Hub centric is always a plus and gives more piece of mind. Loctite those mounting lugs like 250f stated.

Thanks dudes

hub versus lug centric depend on your wheels. You don't have your year in your signature, so I can't tell. If your lugs are the tapered conical type, you can use lug centric. If your lug nuts have a flat washer attached to them (flange type) for aluminum wheels, you need to get hub centric.

Pretty sure the 93s and 94s came with tapered conical (acorn) style lug nuts on OEM aluminum wheels also. John

John is correct, I have a '93 and they are acorn tapered conical. SO, my wheels are a bit sucked in and I'm thinking of spacers--how often does one need to check the spacers for safety?

I keep an eye on mine because I've seen what can happen when the come off first hand. Do not dismiss any vibration. "Oh that feels like a ujoints". No get out right then and make sure everything is tight. Just check the torque on them when rotating is what I do.

For the cost of good American made spacers you can damn near get a set of nice steel wheels with the back spacing your looking for? I wouldnt trust the spacers. A dude here had a wheel come off because of them. Save your cabbage and buy wheels not spacers. Just a thought.

I know for a fact the Discount Tire (where I generally get mine) will not touch a truck with spacers. I have held off on getting them, even though I run 255/85s.

I run spidertrax with red loctite...no issues yet (knock on wood). I have them for 2 reasons:

1) Running centramatics so I need caliper clearance
2) Running 255/85s...so vanity/looks

Common sense and good judgment says don't run them, however. If you do, definitely run loctite and check them regularly with a torque wrench.

Thanks for the tips gents.
