Picked one of these up from Pat @ summit steel today, it is 3/16 aluminum plate cut to size and beveled, no holes. $80 bucks his cost. These fit the rear tailgate of the 80 series landcruisers and replace the usually worn out carpet. He has 2 more if anyone is interested. You will have to cut the holes, etc to make it fit. Will post pics when I am done with mine. I can cut the holes / countersink if needed for an additional labor cost, this would include "brushing" the aluminum to make it look nice. Mounting hardware is another $30 from the local hardware store to mount it. PM for details.

for me I want something more durable, especially with the 2 100+ pound hounds in the back. My 80 gets beaten up inside for sure. Eventually I am going to pul the carpet back there too and spray some diy bedliner down.

The carpet back there gets abused for sure. Pulled it all out when I put the drawers in.

Only thing is that the carpet is probably good for your dogs. They need something to grip into when moving if they stand up at all. I was told by a vet that hardwood floors can contributor to dogs developing hip dysplasia. Something to research I guess.

Gonna do this eventually just need to find the extra $$$ to get it done. I use mine to cook on when camping so it has a few coffee coffee stains and even a blood stain. Time to replace it!

the tailgate will be up when moving? so can't imagine this would be an issue......

plus they are big baby's, I usually help them in and out of the cruiser. :)

haha, yeah, I hope you close the tailgate when you're driving! ;)

Nah, I meant the cargo floor carpet. Gives em something to grip, so they dont slip about. Probably not a big deal though since the metal floor has valleys and ridges, not smooth like hardwood or tile.

My wife's mutt has marginal hips and the vet told us to keep her off smooth floors or put throw carpets down to avoid issues.

[WTH? How did I end up in SD section..too funny. Carry on.]
