My horn wasn't working and after exhaustive wheel pulling and brass pin removal/replacement- it was the damned fuse the whole time. But in replacing original fuses from '87, will standard fuses you get at any parts store work, or have there been changes in auto fuses in 30 years? Is it good to keep an extra set in the truck anyway?

Yes fuses are fuses and yes couldn't hurt to keep spares. Make sure you put the same amp rating fuse back in or whatever the fuse panel says.

Spare fuses are an absolute necessity unless you like dealing with AAA for what might only be a 2-minute fix. And never assume a fuse is good by just looking at it. Have more than one spare of each rating just in case. I bet there is a vendor who sells a spare fuse kit with exactly what you need.

And...if it isn't a fuse then check your grounds. Those two things fix a lot of problems.

60 and 62 fuse sets are different. I have the 80 Series and 100 Series fuse kits. I guess I should put together a 60 and 62 kit as well. I focus on US made fuses and at times it's difficult to figure out and source.

Here is what I did for the 80 Series
Fuse/Accessory Kit-62/80 Series

I would avoid Harbor Freight fuses in the large, cheap package. Get a quality brand.

The link says the kit works for 62s. Is that correct or is it for 80 and 100 series?

It does work for 62s BUT I haven't verified it has ALL of the options (gas vs diesel and US vs rest of the world). I try to make it comprehensive.

But for a US gasser it's likely fine.

-J60's prior to 1983 use the good ol glass fuses! So Joey will need to make at least three fuse sets for US Market -J6- cruisers.
