did this get any bids over $20k on ebay in last auction??????

The best offer made so far was $22,000.00. The cruiser has been up for sale for about 2.5 months now. There is substantially more than $22,000 in parts and service receipts alone on this cruiser build...

wow-22k.....id have jumped on that if i were a seller. Wrong color and an odd build with stock axles are mainly reason this is probably not selling. Lots of gearing and lockers on stock axles doesnt make sense....but im sure theres someone out there who will want to tackle the axles and make this a properly balanced rig. I find it hard to believe theres anyone out there who will want to sink another $few thousand$ into axle upgrades on top of a $25k+ entry point no matter how much they like yellow and no hard top.:hhmm:

I am not bashing but maybe factory turn signals on the front fenders and factory rear late model lights in the back bumper(loose the **** rear lights) and some widened stock steelies with hubcaps would make the rig look pretty nice and broaden the market?? Nice work but as anything this far custom from stock limits the audience because our vision is not always someone else's. nice attention to detail. GLWS

Bunch of things I like. The color is great, IMO and the contrast with some of the gray is nice. Bunch of things I don't like, diamond plate, home-made dash, turn signals and tail lights, bestop, optima crappy battery. I, too, would be jumping at $22k if I were you.

Wow....rough crowd :)

I can see where there has been a lot of attention and $$ put into this rig. I agree with Eddy that there are things that I like and don't like about this FJ. Obviously, it will take a special buyer for this vehicle.

Here is my .02 on increasing your likelihood of a sale. (I have a bit of experience with exotic cars)

3 things about Ebay

a) "Buy it nows" are worthless

b) Setting a reasonable reserve and disclosing it in the description will get you more bidders. Most serious buyers look at reserves and figure that there is no reason to bid because the seller is not going to be reasonable anyway.

c) Pictures are everything: While you have tons of pictures of the outside of the vehicle, there are virtually none of the inside. I find that details to the inside are the last thing that a builder pays attention to...if the inside looks good, likely the rest of the vehicle has been paid attention to as well.

GLWS, it is a nice rig!

General cruiser pricing and ebay pricing goes something like this:

add 50% of the cost of all parts
add 50% of the cost of all labor
add $3k for cruiser with no hardtop
subtract 100% of cost of guages/dash and all diamondplate
subtract 100% of cost of labor for guages/dash and all diamondplate

and you have your final price you hope to get.

subtract $5k and you have your opening bid price.

So given the above math----im guessing:

bidding should start at $11k (to get some action going and peak peoples interest)
with buy it now at 18k (for the oddball lover of all that is yellow and diamondplated polished turdiness.)
and action should get some 14,5-15k winning bidder battle

Motivated to sale...

Really? Then go NO reserve and let the market tell you how much it's worth... diamond plating, incorrect turn signals, dash...etc. You're dreaming at 30k +. I'm thinking half that if you're lucky.

I look at the 40s market everyday and consider myself a serious buyer. When I saw this a couple of months ago, I thought way too ugly and has too much personalization to interest most. I agree, I would have jumped on $22k. In todays market and economy, I figure total all your costs, except labor. Deduct any personalization items cost that have only appeal to a select few, then divide it by half. That also works with the classic car market, unless you have something very rare. Overall, I agree with Dan Watters, you might get $15k. Sorry, but most builds you lose your butt.

I would have loved this Cruiser when I was 14 back in the early 90's. Unfortunately the way you have built it is going to appeal to very few Land Cruise lovers. If you can get a solid offer anywhere near the 20k mark, take it and run.
