Fully Automatic Factory Service Manual (FSM) Downloading (9 Viewers)

I subscribed for the day and have tried several ways to auto download the whole manual. All to no avail. This is still a great service provided but I'd love to be able to grab the whole manual. I dl'ed what I need for now and will continue to try and figure something out, at least for today. For those interested, I did try the flashgot plugin with firefox but the coding they use for the manuals calls some xhtml documents and then uses that code to call the pdf. Tough nut to crack.

Oh, Good Grief!!!

I've paid for the TIS 1-day subscription and spent a few hours downloading files, all the while trying to keep them organized by creating directories and subdirectories...etc. However, I could do this round the clock and don't sense an end in sight.

An amazing set of data.... but for the amount of time it'll take to manually pull down all the individual pdf's with some semblance of order... I'll never get that time back in my life that could've been spent with my kids or one of 8 projects (excluding those for my LC) that I'm already in the hole for.

So, I'll make my request plainly said... who's got the '97 TIS already d/l'd? I've paid the subscription and can prove it, so I'd very much appreciate it if someone could give a guy a hand.

( PS, between sitting here at my iMac and exacerbating an excruciating case of carpal-tunnel (honestly, this is a week old.. .but I unless I can get this fixed, I'm finished as a firefighter/emt...sincerely that's how it feels), I'd rather be outside installing my Slee Harness Upgrade and 9012 bulbs)

I hope everyone had a great weekend. My wife and I just celebrated our last "1st Birthday" yesterday for my youngest of 3 daughters. It was a perfect day and also bittersweet. Due to complications during Grace's birth, I came very close to losing my wife, and one result was closing of the book on our family's size. I don't think you have to be an EMT to understand this, but when you have to transfuse a 120lb woman with 8 units of blood (at the table) and then 2 more after she got out of being intubated in ICU.....let me describe this in a different way. Imagine a complete oil change, replacing down to the last drop with a new batch that may or may not induce leaks at the gaskets that you'd never know till you lost the engine... that pretty much sums it up. And it's all completely out of your hands....

This is cathartic statement for me, and in my own way its funny when you think of my whining above about time sitting in front of the computer ends up being the trigger to really let things catch up with me and allow me to take stock of what precious time I have been blessed with... I can't being to describe. Life is perpetually surreal.

Take those moments with your family and friends.... and get your projects done so you can enjoy it all.

OK Toyota USA does not carry publications for Cruisers not sold in the USA, hence no Diesels or Right Hand Drives. They did supply Toyota Australia customer service number - 1-800-252-097 (yes thats what they said).

A company in Edmonton Canada carries a selection of FSMs for overseas vehicles and can source most others. google: 4WheelAuto.com...

Not likely the Canadian TIS would carry anything different than the USA TIS. I did get the Engine and Chassis manuals from 4WheelAuto (last ones in stick) for my Japanese HDJ81 with the 1HD-T Engine. Yahoo!!

They recommend changing out the aluminum rod bearings on these engines ASAP. Sounds like a good idea if you are Off-Roading your 80-Series. Probably a forum here somewhere on that issue.

The automated process no longer works. You can still get access to TIS and manually download the sections you need. If you need the full FSM then you should plan to spend a few hours downloading and renaming. It can be tedious but the results are well worth the effort.

i would rather spend 10 than 100 or more, heck at my wages i am only worth 9.25 an hour anyway so if i spent 3 or even 5 hours i am still coming out ahead! Thanks for the help beo and how is it tediouse, just the renameing and downloading different sections?

I 3, or 4, or whatever! I just bought my first cruiser , and it needs a lil work, ( to say the least ). I would greatly appreciate the easiest route to an FSM as possible. The more time and money i can save on repairs, the more time and money i can throw at mods! .

this is what you were talking about Beowulf; I stopped by the 'yota house monday and asked for a price on the FSM- 35 bucks sounds like I did not make myself clear to the service gal I talked to, maybe for an owners manual?

I am somewhat webliterate, an electronic copy of the service books for a days subscription is money in the bank IMHO, again, I'll research and re-search this thread, but an E copy is the ticket, the book would be good for casual reading though ....

For example, you can get the following for a 1996 LX450.

New Car Features (NCF)
Factory Service Manual (FSM)
Owner's Manual (OM)
Electronic Wiring Diagram (EWD)
.... and many more.

Transmission manual, body repair manual, wiring harness repair manual, Technical Service Bulletins, service training manuals, and a long list of others.

The 1-day subscription can get you up to 47 hours if you are anal about it. You can subscribe at 1AM and you get until midnight the following day. This might be of interest to you if you are a night-owl.

I like the electronic manuals because you can research the section you need for a project, print it, make notes on the pages, combine pages from 'Mud how-to threads, take everything out to the garage and get the print-out dirty and greasy, then pitch everything when you are finished with the project or save it for the next time.

PM pbgbottle here on 'Mud. He was selling the EPC on DVD a while back. AFAIK there are no Parts Catalog manuals available for our 80-Series, electronic or hard-copy (other than the aforementioned EPC). I bought a hard copy parts catalog for my LS400 from someone on eBay and it is very handy.

The EPC is better than a hard copy manual. It has all Toyota models and covers US, Europe, and Japan models. Search for his ID and you should find his thread explaining what you will receive on the DVD.
