Back on the scene again, former 40, bj60 and fj60 owner, now returning with a fj60 (87) with full roof rust. I am literally considering the Tijuana body shop plan as I have done a ton of research on the right shop to use. My question is I cannot find a provider for full reproduction roof panel kit. My roof is completely gone and bubbled everywhere which necessitates cutting off full roof and welding in new roof panel. Any sources? Any domestic fiberglass alternatives? The rest of the truck is fine but the top is too gone to grind and weld patch panels to. Thanks!

I know this is 'one of those stories..', but I'm down by the Mex border with TJ, and a client of mine just recently took his truck down to have body work done, and it was stolen from the shop, at gunpoint, an hour before he supposed to pick it up.. Not sure if that's a new scam, but would suck..

I have a similar roof on my 84. I could try to patch it up the roof gutters, but i gots the cancer real bad in both of my A pillars. So i am thinking about cleaning it all up and laying down some fiberglass. No its not the right fix, but until i can hunt down a roof as well.... besides, not a lot of 60's down here in HI to pull from.
I have a similar roof rust problem, although I found a rust free roof up in NorCal (photo attached). Now I just need a body shop qualified to do the work. I've been to some restoration shops here in LA, but none are willing to take on this project. Did you eventually find a shop? Can anyone recommend a body shop in SoCal who could replace this roof, correctly? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. MP

For the roof repair, why not check out a hotrod shop. They I bet will have done more chopped roof repairs and properly than any body shop.
Might be the ideal place to have them replace a rood and line it up right.

Try Gary Kardum at Mudrak in Santa Rosa CA. His number is 707.292.3509. Super knowledgeable cruiser shop. He cut a roof off of an old FJ60 while I waited. Don't know that he has another, but he had quite an inventory. SOR in Chatsworth had some a while back, but last time I checked they were out. They do get new inventory from time to time, probably worth checking.
