What's the average lifespan of a factory 22RE fuel pump? I will be dropping the tank on my '93 this weekend to replace the brake lines. I was wondering if I should replace the fuel pump while the tank is out. The truck has about 120k miles.

That's pretty young. I wouldn't bother. They're not cheap, and really not that hard to get to.

Mine made it to 250k.

They last along time if ya have steel toes. I kicked the bottom of the tank on an old wheeler for over a year. worked everytime.

If its a wheeler, dont let it sit empty. Keep the pump sub, erged and start it a couple time a month.

why does your 93 need new brakelines? :meh:

They rusted through. The gas tank and frame make a good mud/salt/water catcher and the brake lines run right through it.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I found out last night that the fuel pump bracket lines are rusted-through, too. I'll be replacing that piece, also.
