As title says, manual swapped my ‘91. Before, it was running great and always started and idled fine.
Just got done putting an h42 in, and now it’s having issues.
In order to get it to start I have to jump the FP and B+ terminals in the diagnostic box. Once it starts I can remove them and it still runs. If I drive it for a bit and turn it off, maybe run into a store, it will start back up WITHOUT jumping the FP/B+ terminals. But if it sits for too long (an hour or more usually) I’ll need to “jump” it again. Ideas?
It also struggles to idle sometimes, I’m guessing though if I can solve issue #1, then issue #2 may be taken care of. Hopefully anyways.

Did you do a work around for the park neutral switch ?

Just throwing spit balls 😎

I did, from what I saw I did it correctly, but it would not be the first time I’ve been wrong! Basically just used a small length of wire to jump the terminals on the neutral safety switch

I'm wondering why switching to a manual transmission would affect the fuel pump. Don't see how it would. You did this swap yourself? Lots of fj62 getting manual swaps without affecting the fuel system.

Yeah I did myself. May have knock something loose? I’m stumped. Like just now, i went to mess with it and it wouldn’t fire at all. Jumped the pins, took a minute but it fired up. remove the jump as soon as it starts and it will start running. Shut it off for 5 mins and no start

Maybe @jonheld has some Input as to what talks to the fuel pump? Assuming you have looked at the EWD and traces the circuit.

So I’ve got no power at fp terminal in diagnostic box with key in the on position. I’ve jumped the main efi relay and no change (I have cel on and new fusible link).

The fuel pump will not run with the key in the ON position.
The fuel pump is fired from the circuit opening relay.
That relay has 2 coils. The primary coil is triggered by the starter circuit while cranking the starter.
The secondary coil is triggered by the flap in the AFM once the motor starts sucking air.
You can bypass the fuel pump logic by jumping B+ to FP in the diagnostic connector on the firewall. This will run the fuel pump with the key in the ON position, but should be used for diagnostics only.

Good info! Anyone have a schematic showing the wiring for this circuitry?

@Trollhole is somewhere near you if you can't get it figured out

The A440F behind the 3FE was not controlled by the ECU. It was 100% hydrolic. The only electrical connection was regarding the cruise control and the effect was negligible.
In short, the ECU didn't know there was a transmission.

Again, all the info is in the Toyota FSM and Toyota EWD. Don't leave home without them.

So I found the COR and inspected. Hard to see in this pic, but one of the tiny copper wires is not making contact with it where I think it should be. Could this cause the problem? Also is there a way to bypass this relay for testing purposes?

Jump B+ and FP circumvents the COR. Info is in post #8.
