Front seats upgrade to bench (1 Viewer)

Hi I’m new to the forum but I was wondering if anyone has swapped out the front seats / console for a bench seat. Since I’m posting heres a photo from this weekend’s camping trip to Warner Springs

If I remember the bench seat was a very early option, ‘83 or thereabouts. Personally
I like bench seats and have tried to get one just to see how comfortable it is.
The 60 series was a 60/40 split and in use might not be that good, hence they
went away.

I have the 60/40 split in my non-us spec 81. I like the extra space but do miss the center console and cup holders.

Well I don't have cup holders as it is right now so, one less thing to miss

I wanted the bench seat in my 60 but couldnt find a left hand drive version.

Ive always had the idea of taking the bottom half of the back bench and mounting the top half of the front seats to it. All you would need to do is make a center seat back that could fold down into a center console. I think the only issue with that is getting the seat to move back and forward evenly but everything else should mount with little fab work.
