Personally I wouldn't. I may consider a vehicle with a small repair like a fender or hood replacement but nothing that requires close to half the value of the vehicle. There are too few repair shops that will do that kind of repair properly and there are too many things that can go wrong down the road.

I suspect the sales price doesn't justify the risk (financially and safety-wise) involved.

Even if you repaired the entire front, I wouldn't trust the integrity of the rest of the vehicle. It's all been stressed due to the collision and may not hold up well in the long run, or who knows how it will hold up to another collision.

No it's Magnetic Gray Metallic

47,000 miles

We always looked at them at auction at half of w/s book. That being said, they high-line vehicles will bring more like newer BMW's for example as they can be purchased cheaper at action as new car dealers wont touch them, but used car places or brokers will and they will make huge profit as someone will over look the branded title to have the image of the ride that they are buying.

Now if it was a domestic car, they are everyplace cheap and fixed in garages and sold cheap. The 200, someone paid good money to get that and may have fixed it very well, I say this as the shop I use only uses factory Toyota parts and no exceptions. So you might want to get it looked at and get educated on what was done and if it fits in your budget and your agent knows and discloses everything.....

I did around $14K to my cruiser when I tried to drive past a steel cable between two trees. Mostly cosmetic, radiator and water pump. No problems since. I agree with Atlas: if it was done well with Toyota parts, may not be an issue but certainly a good bargaining point. My $0.02.

In final, I will more than likely pass. I could lowball them and see what they say.

I would be concerned with frame and mechanicals. Or am I being paranoid.

BTW, mileage on repair bill 37,847 (October 2011) now 47,000.

The truck is 4 yrs old, that's about 11,500 miles per year. So PO didn't slow down their normal driving patterns.

I think that price is more than a little high for a truck that had $24k in damage. As a point of reference, that asking price is about 58% of what I paid for my 2013 not quite 2 months ago. As usual, just my $0.02

agree. that was pretty extensive damage.

KY Longhunter, did you ever pursue the truck further? I have been looking at this truck as well. I saw that it was in an accident from the CarFax but I haven't been serious enough to call and ask for the repair sheet, so I didn't know the accident was that bad. Still, I'm thinking I could get a really great deal on it. ~$40k seems way too high for a vehicle with this kind of a damage history.
