I have been trying to track down a clunk in my front end.

Ordered sway bar bushings and end links since they were pretty worn.

I figured out i need these bushings too (where the sway bar mounts to the axle housing)

I am having a hard time finding a part number for them though (or anywhere that sells them... or even lists them..)

On that note.... it wasnt the sway bar clunking.. need to look deeper i guess :beer:

I had that same problem and have done the same thing you have done. I even went as far as changing my steering dampiner. And then i found the noise was actually my cv joints

BUSH,STABILIZE 90385-11021

They are the same as bushings in rear sway bar.

If you cannot find anything local i have plenty of them in stock.

Look at your shock bushings if you have stock shocks. They will shrink up after many years and allow the washers to move and make noise.

Mine was panhard bar! :)

When does it clunk? On bumps/while driving? Or when you put the truck in drive/starting from a dead stop?

If it happens when you are driving over bumps I'd look at the suspension.

If it happens when putting the truck in gear or from a dead stop I'd look at the drive shafts. Bad u-joints or worn slip yokes can cause a clunk when putting the truck in gear or starting from a stop.

My 'clunk' ended up being loose nut/bolts thru the front control arm. Tighten up those suckers. IIRC around 150 ft/lbs.

No help for the part #, but under what conditions were you getting the clunk?

Bad description - bolts on the Leading Arms. Per '94 FSM, front two bolts are 127 ft/lbs and rear one is 130 ft/lbs. Regarding conditions - going over bumps, etc.

For a while it was really intermittent. Would only do it when it was cooler and wet out.

Now that we got a bit of a cold snap it does it pretty much all the time.

Before it was just when braking, then when started going from a stop again (didnt really feel like driveline though, and ive done the ujoints recently too)

It still does the stopping and starting clunk, but now it does it over smaller bumps (unplowed side roads you really notice it)
I've checked the trailing arms and stuff with a prybar.. but I am going to get it inside tomorrow to go over everything with a torque wrench i guess.

Akella, i'm gonna check one dealer locally but if they dont have them close by I will shoot you a PM tomorrow and get them from you. Shouldnt take too long to ship from Ontario to AB.

Sounds like a suspension problem. Can you tell if it comes from the front or rear? I'd get all four wheels off the ground, then climb under the truck and grab all the suspension components and shake them around. See if anything is loose.

Your DS bolts are tight right?
