I agree 285/70-18 would be the perfect size.

I wanted something a bit more aggressive than an AT, the only thing available in 285's are KM2 & Toyo MT which are both ~$400 per tire. Way too much for me I was OTD on 4 coopers for under $1k.

BTW - Cooper has a $70 mail in rebate going on now

I dont know how long the Cooper would last compared to the Toyo MT. I currently have the Toyo AT-II and I will be going to a 34inch MT after these need to be replaced. Which unfortunately for me is not for another 25-30K miles.... sometimes the extra $$ can be made up in the miles you'll get and the correct size you want. Just weigh out the pro/cons.... I dont think ( in my opinion ) that a $3-400 should make anyone compromise on performance AND size. Hope it all works out for you. I recommended the ExoGrapplers because your profile says east coast. If you have to deal with snow yearly... the Exo is very well rated for that. I'll keep checking in to see how it turns out! Good Luck!

Probably mount them tomorrow

I cant wait to see some meaty tires on those wheels!

Nice tires .. what size did you end up going with? Do you plan on adjusting the height sensors? Those gunmetal OEM wheels are going to look awesome (don't paint them black please - but hey its your truck!). I wanna see the tires and bumper - full shots from all angles please. Subscribed.

I went with 295/70-18. I don't plan on adjusting the height sensors or adding a BL unless needed - I will cut/heat the plastic if they hit.

My wheels are still in good shape so no plans on doing anything to them (wouldn't do black either).

I hoped to have my bumper back from powder coat yesterday but of course they are behind so probably won't be until next week until I get the tires on. Good news is BIOR shipped my skids and sliders yesterday so I may have everything on in a couple weeks.

I will take lots of pictures at all stages of the build and from many angles.

295/70r18 .. Sweet! Way to not skimp. Big tires + BIOR stuff = more excited to see results.

GL.

Some maintenance this past weekend. Replaced spark plugs and heater T's. Only 1 of them had some wear.

Fun Stuff - Dissent Bumper Install

My attempt to use POR15/Rustoleum Spray did not go so well. I thoroughly prepped the bumper but when I applied the POR15 I had areas that it would not cover to my liking. I lost my patience and brought it to the local powder coater. All in all I think they did a good job. Zinc plated with a slight textured flat black over top.

I threw on my lightforce 240's I had from my 4runner - not sure if I will stick with these or go with a lower profile LED bar. I am going to do an aux fuse/relay box to run all my accessories so probably a few weeks before these are wired up. Also working with a buddy to do a 3d printed switch holder to replace my sunglass holder.

CB Antenna.

Not something I was planning on doing but I picked up a labrak antenna mount through the classified. I had all the hardware from my 4runner that I never got to install. I am trying to trade my current CB for a smaller one so I will following up with a full install.

I routed the wire down through the tail light. I tried keeping the ring more flush to the truck and running the wire over the top of the mount but it would rub against the hatch when I closed it, so ended up running it underneath.

Tires Tires Tires

Specs/Setup
Make - Cooper
Model - STT PRO
Size - 295/70-18 (Manf stated size 34.6")
Suspension Lift - None
Body Lift - None

Initial Impressions
I only have ~70 street miles on them so far.

Fit - Only place I am getting contact is the passenger side plastic on the bottom edge when turning near to full lock. Keep in mind this is only street driving so far, I will update when I flex the suspension a bit. I will be cutting the plastic but may wait until I get my sliders on first.

Noise - Slight hum at low speeds. Surprisingly quiet at higher speeds. My nitto TG where much louder.

Power - I haven't noticed a drop in power yet. Again will report back with I do some more elevation changes. Highway driving is smooth with no noticeable down shifting. At lower speeds I definitely notice a heavier tire is on there.

MPH/MPG - Speedo is off by ~4-7mph. I have not calculated MPG yet.

Mounting/Balance - 2 out of the 4 balanced easily the other 2 I had problems with although I think it was more user error. I am going to try and re-balance the other 2 today.

I will be picking up my BIOR sliders and skids this week. May be a couple weeks before I get them on. I will follow up with lots of pictures from many angles (as requested) once I have everything together.

Also I plan on adjusting the torsion bar and possibly adding spacers/80 series springs to get my AHC pressures back to spec after I get skids & sliders on.

man, i reaaaaally like those wheels... Maybe get a set of airbags in the rear if you're ever too heavy. Just put some PSI via bike tire pump and you're set.

Also, can you take a couple pictures from a little more distance? Maybe at regular eye level?

Gotta love Heavy Metal...

unfortunately going to be a couple weeks before I get it all on

I will get some more pictures this weekend. So far I really like the tires and am happy I went with the bigger size.

1st Tank of gas = 14.2 mpg
I did trim some of the plastic in the wheel well and now have no rubbing during normal street driving.

Finally an update. Besides being super busy I suffer from 'while you are in there' syndrome. I couldn't simply put on my sliders and skids without first changing diff fluids, greasing driveshaft, & attacking some more surface rust.
