I replaced compressor and recharged the system. It took 48 ounces to get the gauges in spec. and to get sight glass bubble free. Every thing I can find says 38 ounces but, only list up to 04 model. Would my 06 with rear air take more or have I overcharged it.
Thanks!

A 2004 with rear a/c after it has been evacuated takes 2.31 LBS. (1.0 KG) of R-134a.
If you overcharged it, when you start your truck with the a/c on the compressor would cycle every 20 or 30 sec and will cause damage to it.

Thanks. I have pumped it back down a bit until I got bubbles / foam. Only when ac is first shut off as per fsm and no bubbles while running. It still cycles on and off a good bit though

I have question for the A/C gurus-

I noticed bubbles and foaming in my sight glass- it cycles through filling- bubbles- foam- then full/clear then it slowly recedes and the bubble and foaming repeats. Is this acceptable or is my system low on refrigerant? A/C blows very cold-

Here's a VID

If it does it while running it is probably low. If it does it only when you turn it off. Then that is normal from what I have read.

It may be a little low. Only way to know will be to put a manifold gauge set on it and run through the procedure in FSM. Time to find a good AC man.

For anyone who has capped the rear A/C lines: do you know how many pounds of freon you added to get the A/C working again?
