Power washed the engine and frame to clean up for painting. Noticed the freeze plug on the rear of the engine block is bowed out not in like I would expect. Is this normal or anything to worry about. The one in the head is normal looking, but the one in the block is like it was installed backwards to me.

Found pictures of 1f's look like this could be how they came. Lots of them curve out leading me to believe the one on the head that curves in like I would expect is not factory. Here is a photo I zoomed in on from Desin's build thread. I guess I am going to leave it.

That's right, Chris. Most of the 1F plugs are bowls, rather than dishes. They go in concave side in, then you dent them in the middle to lock them in.

And hope they don't leak. :D

Then again, you're never going to get a better opportunity to fix it than now. Except for the freezeplug at the back of the head, all the others can be replaced without pulling the engine or cutting a hole in the firewall. And they're not expensive. And they do rust from the inside out...

X2.
When I got my donor engine, the PO was nice enough to tell me he had a pinhole ( rust ) leak in one of the freeze plugs. I did the whole set while I had it out, very easy cheap project, and most of the old ones were paper thin.

I vote change them all.

Good luck
