I ordered a new PCV valve and grommet for my 1972 40 with original F155 engine. Is this where the PCV valve is in the first photo? Second photo shows the other end of the 1/2” hose. Thanks for any responses.

Hose is more like 7/16 IIRC.

At Cruise Moab 2005, we almost lost @cruiserdan on our run when his PS return hose blew out on the trail. As fate would have it, I was carrying a spare factory PCV hose in my toolbox under the driver's seat of my '68 FJ40. Why was I carrying a spare factory PCV hose? I honestly have no idea. But I was. And it fit perfectly on his power steering.

With a grin on my face, knowing that the hose was already obsolete, and knowing Dan's reputation as a parts shaman, when I gave him the hose, I charged him with finding me a replacement in the Toyota system.

About six months later, a brand new hose showed up at my doorstep.😉

PCV valve question: My 79 FJ40 was experiencing poor idle. I traced it back to a stuck (open?) PCV valve. Removed, shot some carb cleaner through it. Then compressed air. Reinstalled. Now the rig runs fine.

Before reinstalling it, I shook it and could hear the internal plunger rattling. Do these things have springs in them or does that plunger just float free?
