Hello, I just removed the frame weight from my 2002 LX. It was just flopping around, the bushings are completely shot. It was located below the passenger door. Does it do anything? Is it worth keeping? I would need to find some kind of rebuild kit. Based on my research this part is discontinued. The part number was 5125960010 and it was called, Weight, No. 4 Cross Member Dumper

From what I’ve read on here, it will lead to vibrations if not replaced. I can’t confirm that, but there might be an explanation of possible issues in the FAQ

Yeah if you remove this piece please don’t drive the vehicle above 45mph. I’m only joking, most people here took theirs off and I don’t remember anyone having any issues. If you were local I’d just give you mine if you really want these thet bad but pretty sure they’re useless. I haven’t seen any difference since removing mine.

why would toyota invest in engineering/production of weights is useless? doesnt' make sense.

On mine, no vibration while driving, however when I'm stopped and still in drive (light, traffic, etc.), there is a noticable vibration.

I guess I should say in my case they're useless. I have aftermarket skids, sliders, and like 1,000 of extra weight in bumpers and non OEM suspension etc. I don't think that weighed damper would make any difference in my case. No vibration at any speed.

quite possible.

Unlucky for me: i did a lot of vibration analysis/mitigation in my previous life (engineering). Typically, besides weight, there is a lot of tuning involed. U know what they say: engineers make the simple complicated.

I'm sure your rig will provide a comfort ride no matter weight/no weight.

Keep on keeping on

With that amount of rust, the vibration frequencies are likely to have changed for several parts of the frame, so it might not be needed anymore in any case. Just try it out without.

my 100 didnt come with one, i guess the previous owner removed it. I'll never know the wonder of the frame weight

I think it's silly to remove it when it's in good shape, but I wouldn't fret over replacement of yours.

In a brand new car (or a very nicely refurbished car), vibrations/noises are way more noticeable. As the car ages all the rubber ages too and almost nobody bothers to get in there are replace all the joints and bushings. There's a lot of things the average 100 owner should refinish/refurbish. I'm not sure this frame weight cracks the top ten list.

Keep it if it's in good shape, but don't fret losing it if it's deteriorated like the one pictured in the first post.

Thanks for the responses. Rust?! What rust? ;)
I am replacing all suspension components, so I'll hold onto the weight to see if there are any vibration issues.

My drone got significantly worse when I removed it. I put it back on.

I took mine off a few weeks ago to clean the frame (got some surface rust) and one of the bolts sheared off. Now I have a terrible rattle on idle and above 45 mph. Can't wait to extract the bolt and put it back on.

My 00 had one and it was too rusty to even consider taking off. My 05 didn't come with one so idk bruh
