Four Days stuck in 1st and 2nd gear low Range

We found this cool frozen beaver pond, just around the corner where we camp, didn't even know it existed, so we again walked around looking for tracks that just weren't there. Then back to camp where the wagon on old limpy foot was gaurding camp.

The next morning we drove down river looking for tracks or moose, and again nothing, so we decided to head down the trail to the camp someone had cut out on the trail and left a fire pit in the middle of the trail on the way in but because it was dark we didn't have time to mess around there. We soon found some rock core boxes and decided it was some mining exploration. They left a bit of a mess so we took some pics so that we could get ahold of someone so this gets cleaned up. Since then Adam got a hold of the mining company that is most likely responsible and they are figuring out if it was their contractors that left this stuff behind. Sort of a shame, because this area is so prestine, and seeing garbage like this, although not that bad, is disturbing. Also we are a little concerned there might be more mining activities, so we may be signing up Old School Off Road with the 4WDABC and then possibly talking to the Recreation officer up here to see if we can adopt this trail so we might get notified or have some say if something industrial happens up here. We know we can't stop it, but we might be able to work with the mine to keep some access open? Probably won't be 5 to 10 years before anything happens, and they are exploring a big area, so this area still might be kept isolated, but you never know.

Good idea, Deny. No company likes bad press, so if they have a group, no matter how small, to help hold them accountable, the company will thank you for it.

The exploration is going to happen but no one needs to be a pig when doing it anymore. It's not that hard to clean up after yourself.

Hey Kim,

I just sent him an email, actually met him when a local wheeler set up a meeting with the gov about the mud bogging legislation. What else do we need to set up a club with the 4WDABC?, we have a name, that's about it, few friends up here, then some down in PG. It would be really exclusive, because we found that multi make 4x4 clubs have a lot of problems, which we don't want to be involved in, it would strictly be 1986 and older, 4x4 vehicle that goes wheeling, and has a scratch or rust spot.

ha ha, yeah we were debating issues like if a certain model was available prior to 86, even newer ones would count, but then we said no, rules are simple, 86 or older Your 82 troopy is a fine example of old school though. But don't worry if you ever want to bring your 70 series on this trail, you are more than welcome, Old School does not discriminate on the trail

We were more concerned with the YJ not getting in, and didn't really think more about it

In the morning to head out we woke up to about an inch or two of fresh snow.
Did a bit of work on the tight section in the creek cause adam was sliding all over the place and nearly tipped the day before, so now we can go strait up like I always do, but with trailer I needed a little tug to get up the steep bank. Truck lost the tear of joy and now had icicle fangs cuase it was angry for having to leave.

Then just kept cruising past the burnt trees, past the tight conifers, which Adam did a good job knocking the snow off so I didn't get it so bad, then Adam wrecking the log bridge we built a year or so ago and having to winch out. we fixed it up a bit, but will probably have to make it a little better, as I think I tore them out one time before as well if you don't take the right line.

Adam winched out and we straitend the logs , quickly on our way again. the lower lakes were just about to freeze solid.

Crossing the big river, then into the tight road on the steep slope. We really should have chained up right here, but too late now.

Adam had no trouble but cause I was going over his iced up tracks, plus pulling a trailer on the off camber tight trail, made me slide my back end to the edge, and the trailer over the edge. Sorry got to run, will finish the story up tomorrow hopefully.

Sorry Rob, had to a few minutes to kill between meetings, so posted quickly and then had to run. So the trailer was right over the bridge and after a couple unsuccessful attempts to get it back on the trail with just two guys lifting, we tried one high lift, that didn't work, so two highlifts and got it back on the trial and started winching myself forward to a far away tree with my extenda rope winch line hoping to slowly creep along without sliding down further. But it still wasn't working as I soon found myself with the back end over the edge of the trail and the trailer about a foot down over the bank. So we stopped to re-assess and grab a quick bite to eat. So out came the comealong and got the trailer back on the trail and unhooked it. Then threw a chain on the tops side tire on the rear of my truck and comalong on the back end. then I slowly winched and crawled forward as adam pulled my rear end of the truck back onto the trial. once back on the trail, we comealonged the trailer back onto the truck and I managed to winch and crawl the rest of the tight section without further issue and then took off the rear chain and continued the rest of the trail without further issue.
