Finally getting back to working on the cruiser. Looking to upgrade the exhaust. I did some searching and cant seem to find an exhaust header and full exhaust for the 3FE. Does anyone know if ANYONE out there these days offers anything?

Appreciate you feedback.

oh and any LC owners that no longer have flares or poverty owners what wheel/tire sizes are you running? If you have specs and pictures do share. I'm considering buying a set of 33x12.5.

Located a set of Toyota rain guards from Japan. I tested them on my 40th and they looked nice but was curious what they looked like on this one. Going to be painting the vehicle soon and wanted to test everything before new paint.

255/85R16 will fit great on a flareless 80 if you don’t mind the “skinny” look. Put them on OEM 16x7 wheels from a 2000-ish 4Runner and they’ll fit nicely without protruding outside the fender.

I may have some photos—I’ll check my computer when I get home.

Yes, photos would be cool. I have a set of 31x10.5.15 on there and tested a set of 265-70-15 that both look good. The 265 only have about 1/2” poke.

Thanks for the feedback.

All of the below are Toyota factory wheels, though not all originally specific to 80-series. None require spacers. The factory alloys on US market 80's are 16 x 8 with zero offset (so 4.5" backspacing), and are too wide in my opinion for a flareless 80. I don't dig the "wheels sticking out past the fender" look, but if you do, go for it.

For a 16 x 7 wheel, you'd be looking for a 12-15mm offset, which keeps the backspacing at around 4.5" (the 4Runner wheels pictured are 4.59"). The factory 16 x 6" wheels that came on 80's in other markets had 30mm offset, so, again, about 4.5" backspacing (4.68"). The factory 70-series steel wheels pictured below have zero offset, so 3.5" backspacing.

OK, here's some photos:

Here's some circa 1999-2000-ish 4Runner 5 spoke alloys with 265/75R16:

And some T100 factory steel wheels, tire size unknown (I believe they're 255/85R16. They look like 33's):

Some 235/85R16 on Toyota 70-series steel wheels (super skinny):

And some Hilux steel takeoffs. These are 17 x 6.5 and are sometimes available in Europe and/or the Middle East:

Good info thanks for sharing.

Sweet looking rigs especially the one in the picture !!

🥴 the first picture

Yes, that's a nice car--it belongs to a friend of mine in Germany. I spent the better part of two years trying to get him to sell it to me until I found mine. If you look closely, you'll see it has swing-out rear doors (i.e. barn doors) in the back.

That’s awesome, i appreciate the time you took to put this together. Some good choices in that lineup.

I currently have a set of 15x7 (265-75-15 -0 offset) on there and they look pretty nice. After looking at it for a week or so I’ve decided I like a little taller tire. The rear on this pov sits a bit taller in the back compared to my other LC that are fitted with rear seats etc.

Photos for ref.

Next in order is paint. Part of me wants to paint it the original silver without the lower color. But cleaning off a section in the door jam you can see how cool it looks with the lower color. Either way it’ll look good. Picking up paint next week. Now to find OE window rubber so I can do a window out paint job.

I’m also looking for a grey crack free dash if anyone has one for sale or knows of one for sale. Pm me if you do.

Did you get just 1 mudflap, or the whole set of 4?

I have all 4 NIB if you need them.

Coming from a fzj80 and never driving a 3fe 80 there was a different in power on the hwy. Once’s it’s got some speed it does just fine. However, the poor fuel mileage and lack of power has really got me thinking on doing an engine swap.

I’d like to keep the engine in the same family (Toyota) but I’ve been thinking between 1uz or LsX swap. I spoke to another member in here who was helpful with feedback on LS swap and he loved it.

Any members out there have any suggestions on LS swap vs 1/2/3uz swap. Power difference, parts availability, swap kits, wiring kits, price & lastly this vehicle is a FJ80 not FZj80 and I know theres some differences with swapping any of the motors above into the earlier or later generation 80’s. Photos of a day on the bay.

Thanks in advance.

I’m getting an ls swap from Proffitts in q1 of 2023 and I’m excited

I was considering a 1hdt or 1hdt fe with another shop but there was so much uncertainty with the build and overseas parts and costs, which makes sense - who knows what gets sourced. Plus, I don’t know about servicing it and parts availability. I want to keep this one for along time so decided on the ls and Proffitts have the build dialed in
