I can't believe I read through all these posts just to start at the beggining again!Nice Job Peter!

 only 24 volt??? maybe 12/24 volt, consider the blokes with 12 volt and English as a second or limited language[Aussies included] might be reluctant to post a 12 v diesel question.

It was all a hoax... who said we don't need and INTL chat section... LOL

If were not changing anything I vote to keep the name too :D

actually, I'm gonna find time before the new year to go thru the posts too, and see if a 7x section is warranted....

hell, I know I want a 7x model :D maybe having that as a forum section will make that a reality ;)

I think we should stay the same. I have to echo a lot of brownbears concerns. The International forum has always been a one stop shop. Maybe I am just lazy but I usually only check here and my club's section. I don't really feel like were so large we need to split. Mostly I haven't been convinced that splitting will bring tech back into our section....

I'll second this. If it has anything to do with a diesel cruiser, I say it belongs on the diesel board, even if it's "chat." For god sakes we don't post the political bologna on the general chat board so the "noise level" is really not bad. But I'm a dorky greenhorn newb so what do I know.

I also second brownbear as mod--he's always around and has been very helpful, and I think it's good to have some international flavor in the diesel board...

I have to disagree. Until now we're still in the "tech" part of the forums.

OK just a few cents from me.

As all Land Cruisers are fundamentally the same for each model type, why not have all the boards specific to the type in technical and then have one seperate board for Petrol engines and one separate board for Diesel. To be honest for basic info, a lot of petrol fundamentals and diesel fundamentals are carried across all the engines, specifics can be dealt with specific questions.

Also if the traffic got to much in a diesel tech section or a petrol tech section then look at which of the engine types get most questions and split those out - maybe split out 3B and 2LT which seem to get a lot of specifics and the same for the 6 pot petrol lumps.

One of the things I have learnt over the last 3 years of running a couple of forums is that the often need a refresh every coupple of years as the contributors change, the percentage of owners of individual types change and problems come around.

All that being said, I like it as it is and it does a great job, Woody has a great forum up and running and I don't think it hurts to say that once in a while.

Personally I look in both the 80 series tech and the international tech sections as that's what interests me, I feel part of the group even though I live in the UK not Canada or the US (I just feel a bit jealous when I see some of the wheeling that you lot get up to). The great thing about forums is that they are location independant (OK a lot of the language and terminology tends to be 'mercan but I got used to that a long time ago)

The Forum is about the people on it, not the layout, format, naming or anything. If the people know something that they impart then our experiences of owning the LC is improved, there might not always be agreement about everything but we are all adults and can take the odd jibe if it comes at us hopefully without getting too upset.

Just my few cents there:)

And so you should feel part of the group. I know I appreciate the depth of your information.

This was the exact reasoning for splitting the 7* series out to their own section. I visit the 60 and international forums, scan the TLCA and 40 series once in a while, and our local TLCA chapter has a forum hosted here. Someone with a diesel 4* may likely only spend time in the 4* series and "diesel" section, where as someone with a 40/60/70 and diesel might have to scan four sections. It will self regulate.

We'll see what the result of woodies study is in the new year.

I agree with a continued name change though. Looking globally, the 40,50,60,70,80,100, Toy Truck lines are all international in scope, even if the owner and website are USA based. The TLCA toutes itself as an international organization, and uses this site for discussions. TLCA clubs have forums here.

Thus, the whole site is already international in scope. Our main focus really...is and has been diesel.

My lifestyle as well.

I surf at work and home................LOL.

hhhmmm....hehehe

another section name option...

"Diesels, Turbos, and 24volts - oh my!" (pathetic wizard of oz reference....)

Diesel and Turbo Diesel are good .. 24V and 12V to much I thought there are not really much diferencices beetwen both systems ..

I leave the country for 8 days and this place goes to hell....:D

This is by far the best forum I read ( I would contribute, but I know very little about diesels) and it would be a shame to split the the knowledge of the people involved with it...

PS I have pics of Land Cruisers from Oman. Where do they go?

On this trip I've seen an FZ motor that is carburated, a 14B motor, and an FZJ-75 outfitted with a machine gun (couldn't get pics of that one:grinpimp: ), and so many 79 series pickups my head is spinning ( all gassers).
