Thanks for the extra info... I assumed it was thru Big Sky Cruisers, but it looks like it is just listed in their classified section. That is pretty darn close to what I am looking for a 1978-82 in mustard yellow/dune beige/olive. It would be a long way to ship to VA, but after looking here for two years I am trying to expand my horizons.

I have an early '78 (9/77 build), and it just has the rubber bumpers that contact with the wheel well. I like them, they don't take up as much floor space.

The production date on mine was 10/77. Just the rubber bumpers.

Yes, I'm excited and very happy. This was a lucky find and the owner, Tony, has been a great guy to work with. It's a beauty. I had a 1972 FJ40 when I was a kid. And as such, being a kid, I let it go. Twenty years latter I've realized my mistake. I've been missing my ride. I think I found a great replacement. It's unmolested. And thank God it doesn't have a 350 in it and big stupid tires on it. I'm an older guy and I wanted a real older rig. I'll keep you posted...

Congrats! You have broken a few dreams here, but we forgive you. I'm thrilled every time I see a 40 get a new, loving home, and I'll just have to keep looking high and low for mine.

To each his own, but I'm with you re: the V8 and tires.

where in the Bitterroot? there are a few mud guys in the valley, and a bunch in Missoula.
