Not a favorite - the Coleman Exponent table with stove extension, while nice is WAY to bulky.

I have two:

Small camping trips, this collapses to like 30x11x6, expanded 47"x28", constructed of aluminum and the legs telescope for leveling. $50-60 at Target.

The Large camping/bbq folding one is something like 71"x30" and was $45 at Home Depot. It is made of plastic, reinforced by metal. Might need to watch out for hot items.

I actually thought about this a bit before I bought mine. The key requirement was for a metal skinned surface so when I put my Coleman 2 burner camp stove on it, the heat wouldn't melt or harm the table top (ask me how I know......).

So I picked up a Cabella's folding in half metal skinned camp table. Don't know the model number.

I like and use the stainless steel table offered by African outback with their roof rack. It's a little on the pricey side though. it fits nicely under the rack. Legs are made from aluminum. I usually put a small grill with coals on the table for cooking, and making my coffee & tea, etc so steel was the only way to go IMHO. Also, if one gets really stuck and doesn't care about destroying the table, I guess there would be many creative ways to use it as a recovery device :D

Weaver,

I have the aluminum roll out table in the pic also. Try Sierra outdoors they can be picked up for approx $35 I believe. Great little tables. Lightweight and they have a carry pack similar to one of the folding chairs. Packs nicely.

Sierra Trading Post, right now, has a really nice roll up aluminum table with really good cross braced legs on sale for $34.95.

FYI: STP has an unconditional lifetime satisfaction/return guarantee...with or without reciept as they track all purchases for you in their computer system.

The bottom of my stove gets hot also. I just carry a piece of 1/8" plywood or masonite, sized to fit the stove, that I place between the stove and the table. No problems that way.

what about a peice of metal bolted to the plastic table wiht a small spacer underneath. kind of like a heat deflector?
i have the same plastic table from Rona and never considered the bottom of the stove melting the plastic...
cheers

I got a neat one at Wal-Mart last year. Kind of a bi-fold affiar with aluminium slats and legs. I couldnt find it on their website and haven't seen it in the store this year.
Kind of a drag because I'd like to get a couple more.

We have a cheapo aluminum-clad one like this. It's OK most of the time, not so good on uneven surfaces. But you can anchor the legs with rocks, making it a bit more stable. I use my tailgate for the "Kitchen" in the backcountry when I can. Not very bulky, too.

They lowered the price of the Poker table to $89.99 and $23.99 to ship. $113.98 total.

My dad's had several folding picnic tables for as long as I can remember. I never see them in the stores so I'm not sure where he gets them, but they fold up into a gun-case sized setup with a handle, and fold out to have 4 chairs connected to the table top. Very handy and easy to store.
