Hi Everyone,

I'm brand new to iH8mud. Thanks in advance for all of the help I'm certain I'll be asking for.

My first question - I've got an 85 FJ60. I've seen photos of FJ60s with the rear seat folded all the way forward to that it lays flat. In those pics, it appears that the seat bottom has been folded up and forward so that the seatback can be folded forward. (Hope this description makes sense.) I'm wondering if all FJ60s have that ability or if that's some sort of modification that the owner has made. I'd love to be able to camp in mine but getting the rear seat all the way forward and flat is the key.

Thanks for your help!

They all do it. There's a pull strap in the center at the back of the seat that's fallen down the crack. Pull it and it will release the locking mechanism. Seat just flips forward.

You will probably need to move your front seats forward, if you have them all the way back, so the seat bottom is far enough past vertical for the back to lay down flat. On a 62, there are plastic clips that accept a small 'u-bar', to hold the seat back down.

If you want to take it one step further, you could remover the bolts that go through the floor that hold
the hinges down through the floor on the seat bottom once you have it folded forward. This would give you a bit of
seat room, and maybe even can drop a couple of bags of tools or stuff there. If you just put the
bolts back in, then you don't have to worry about it leaking. Use anti seize or a lubricant to make
removing/installing a bit easier.
