Hey guys
I know the owner of WeatherTech who has agreed to make floor liners for the FJ80 possibly. Molds are $40k so can you help me verify if the later 100 series and the LX 450 & 470 have the same floor pan shape, seat location, dead pedal, console width etc. i.e. will one mold cover front mats and rear mats? They already have a cargo liners that fits nicely. I can go out and measure all these vehicles but thought you guys could help which will help all of us with nice laser measured floor liners.
Thanks in advance.

David

There's a thread floating around where a guy posted photos of LX470 front mats in his LX450. Search for a recent WeatherTech thread.

You know Dave MacNeil? Very cool, the guy is supposed to be a real gear head, racer, and a good business man.

That is interesting how/where did you meet the owner of WeatherTech?

We met via professional road racing. I own Moorespeed in Austin TX. and he bought a car from me a few years back.
If you did not know, David's company WeatherTech sponsors my friend Alex Job's racing team who just won GT class at the Rolex 24 with the Audi R8. They also finished 6th with a Porsche and his son was one driver. Pretty hot shoe. David drove with Alex in the mid 90's in the multi driver endurance races at the same time I was Team Mgr/crew chief for Exxon/Autozone sponsored Porsche, then Racer's Group Porsche, and later other teams in WSC.

He's definitely a car guy like us and figured out how to make a good product here in USA that supports his Passion.

So are you saying they'll only make them if the mats fit both the 80 series and the 100 series, or am I just confused again?

if i remember correctly there is a brand of mat called "Sand Grabba" or something similar. that company did not make mats for the 80 series, however they did make mats for the 100 series. the mats they sell are similar to the weather tech custom fit mats in that they are specific to a particular car and fit exactly into the foot well. i read a thread a while back that stated these "sand Grabba" mats designed for the 100 series would fit in the 80 series (with a tiny bit of persuasion) pretty nicely. i did a quick search but couldnt find the thread.

i would say that its safe to say the 80 and 100 series have very similar foot wells close enough to say that a custom mat could fit both trucks!

Get a set of the Husky liners and take measurements from them. They are exact fit mats too.

I have a new set of the specter off road sand grabba mats in a box waiting to go in my 80. I also have the digi fit weathertech mats for our 100. I can check the weathertechs in the 80 and vise versa.

If you get him to make the weathertechs after buying the sand grabbas from $OR though, I am going to pout a little.

OMG!! "The SandGrabba" are BY FAR the best looking mats I have ever seen. Never persued getting any because I could only find them on Aussie sites. Didn't know SOR had them. Still too much $$$ though!

I recently posted pics of Nifty Catch-All Xtreme mats made for 100 series in my 80 in the other Weather Tech thread a couple weeks ago. The froor pan must be very similar (front atleast) because they fit pretty much perfect. Not sure about the rear yet though.

Glad to see Weather Tech is possibly stepping to the plate.
