Hey Caleb you are just going to have to build your new buggy faster than you thought. I glad you got your buisness up and running you do amazing work, hope to see you in Moab if not will see you in July.

No the wheels are 17's so no spacers are needed.

I really don't have much to add but thought I would share a pic of when I was at CM13. We had a really good time and the trails where awesome. The slickrock is amazing to drive on with loads of traction which I am not used to, hence the pic. I was able to fix it in town and run on Sat.

:D

Saw this truck perform first hand at CM and was really impressed. Very stable and well built truck! Nice to meet you and I am sure we will cross paths again,

Clint

Your guys 60's are bada$$ and made it all look very easy. I would wheel with you guys any day and hope to cross paths again.

It was great seeing your rig in action and meeting you. I'm working on some video now and I've got you going up a ledge on Golden Spike, you made it look very easy.

Well after many long talks with the wife I think we have decided to sell the 40. It is just getting to hard and expensive to drive 300+ miles to be able to use the 40 for what I built it for, the kids are starting sports so free time is getting short and will get worse from here on out . It pains me to do this but before I post it up in the for sale section I have some things I need to do first. My question is that I have been searching for 40's for sale and there is a large gap with pricing and I am not real sure where to start, being you always think your junk is worth more. I am thinking 15,500 with all the parts and pretty much rust free rig. Does this seem out of line? I value your opinons and most of you followed the build thread.

i dont understand why you feel the need to sell it just because you have to go to far to wheel it.. there is very little that you would have to do to make it street legal again (providing that the laws that most affect you are typical mudflap and tire sticking out issue laws..) Its not like its an all out buggy that you would never be able to get on the road.... i dont think it would take much to slap on a couple of front fenders, perhaps some flares and mudflaps if tires still stick out too much and call it good....

or is it more than that??

the way i look at it is you have a really nice built truck.. it would take a lot of time and money to be able to build another truck... this is probably the time or money that you wont have for a while sinse you are feeling this way about it now.. so sinse you have a truck that is already done and wouldn't take much to make into a daily driver again, wouldn't it make sense to just keep it and enjoy it for the truck it is?? even if its just to go to the store with or go for a bit of a cruise or take the kids and/or wife out for a drive.. i think the term is street queen or driveway queen although you or I dont own a jeep so i am not too sure on this.. i may have to ask one of my jeep buddies for clarification..lol..

or perhaps you have a long commute every day and you feel that this isnt a good truck to do these commutes in??

or I guess perhaps having a family is expensive and it is what it is...

i dont know what your situation is but i do think it would be a shame to get rid of it.. only because you have the truck now and if you dont have anything oweing on it than whats the point of getting rid of it.. just as your situation is changing that you dont have the time/money to do all the trips that you want in it, that situation can change again without notice and when the time comes that you want to go wheeling or just go for a drive in the 40, it may be gone...

pretty much everyone that i know who sold their cruiser feels super bad that they did so and always wished to have another or get their old one back... i hate to see another fall to that statistic..

this all being said, if i had to put a price on your truck based on what i know of it and how it is I think you are in the ball park.. i am cheap though and probably would be that guy to offer you 10-12G's.. i am used to rejection though.. lol.

You make some vailid points but it kinda runs deeper than that. We could save alot of money and pay bills. There is just a ton of stuff we want to do with the kids while they are young like travel to see different things. The cruiser is just getting pushed farther back and there is alot of money just sitting. It is street legal and I do drive it back and forth to work and to get ice cream at the park. This is not a have to sell and if it don't no big deal. I will try and keep till SD unless somebody has alot of cash.

Jim, I understand your feelings and the "need" to sell your 40. I'm in the same boat with mine... Just know that you will regret it! I have to say that your 40 is an inspiration for me. I am borrowing a few of your ideas to incorporate into my 40.

I am sure I will get flamed for this but my opinion is sell it and don't look back. You will never regret investing in your family and your children. I have countless hours and thousands of dollars in my truck but in the end its just a piece of metal (Albeit a kick ass piece of metal :D) and know exactly what you are feeling. It is a constant source of contention, a distraction, and takes time and money away from other focuses on life. No one can take away the memories of the truck both good or bad. There are many chapters in life and a Land Cruiser is just one that will always be there whether or not there is a truck parked in the driveway.

Good luck to you sir!

Btw I have no opinion on price. Sorry.

Clint

Well with the Cruiser Classic over we have decided to sell the 40. It's just going to work better for us for the next few years to get out of it and move forward with different plans. The wife also said that next rig I get could be a buggy down the road. So please pass it on and would like to see a 40 guy get it and continue to upgrade and use. Thanks for all your help in the journey of building a clean good running 40.

Thanks Jim

So an 80 or 100 is on the way? :D

I wish it will be bills and savings. I still have the 40 which really surprizes me but I guess. It is reduced in price about as far as I can go. We will try it for a few more weeks.

What happens after a few more weeks, are you going to keep it?

I always liked your 40 and would consider it if I didn't have one. Good luck with the sale!

I believe he will donate it as a 2014 BHCC raffle prize!!!

I bet you would get a good turn out for the raffle. I will keep it and drive and wheel it just like I do now but will just have to learn that it is a crawler and not worry so much about the body. It is so far to go anywhere and when I get there I want to run the hard trails. Possible rear link on the future so it's a bit smoother on the rocks for the kids. Not that concerned with selling but would like a buggy but can't have both.
