Truly I would keep them on but that is my personal opinion they are there for a reason. But overall it looks clean. Wondering how much did you spent on removal, patch, paint work?
I removed all the trim, grill, wiper caps, emblems, body molding, belt molding, interior panels, bumpers, flares, etc. myself. I drilled out the rear door rivets for the rear flares, cleaned that all up and primed all the holes. Found a guy through a neighbor who restores cars and buys / sells wrecked cars that I took it to for the paint job. Two hour drive each way and it took three weeks to get it back, but worth it. Then I put all the remaining trim back on myself. Primed and sealed the interior weld tabs. With parts and all I dropped about $3K plus my time. New hood, new belt molding, drip rails and new cowl. And one of the last three black pearl rear " Toyota Landcruiser " plate emblems in the states for $110. Pretty reasonable compared to the $8K + quotes I got.
Very clean! But from some one who has gone flairless you're going to get a lot thrown up on the door and fender. Maybe look into a protective film if your not running mudflaps or Bedliner?
I plan to rig up some kind of front mud flaps. The only reason I ever kept the flares was for the mud flaps. This truck had front and rear mud flaps from the factory. I added the Lexus running boards when we had kids and kept all the mud flaps. Little respected fact is that running boards protect your truck a lot more than people realize. My Ford doesn't have a scratch on the lower body from running board protection.
When you pick your next 80 sliders you might want to consider the running board type. Slee and Bump It OR both make them. If I really needed some, I would have them. There's a third truck involved in this picture that makes trashing my 80 or Excursion needless.
How are the condition of the flares you removed? I just picked up my 40th 2 hours ago and I am missing the right rear flair. Would you be willing to part?
Everything is intact. The DS rear flare paint peeled but the flares and mud flaps are all in very good condition.
Your truck looks really nice with them off. Good work.
Beautiful truck
You did all that hard work but forgot to adjust the rear wiper so it sits more level!
I know - I noticed that when i posted the photo. Will be fixed in about 30 minutes.
If anyone needs help with this project like this PM me and I will tell you what I can. There are some tricks and some PITA things.
Thanks for all the positive responses. This took a good bit of work, time and money, but I'm REALLY pleased with the results. If you don't have the common sense, tools, aptitude and aren't ready to put some hands on time into a project like this I wouldn't consider it. No offense intended - just the real deal.
Have a good day everybody.
