If you think you might need Bend Tech you definitely need Bend Tech.
These cope band things are worth their weight in gold.

If I could bend accurately and measure correctly it would be going pretty well.

Well ya. Maybe not exactly that piece of duct tape, I’ll get the door on then feed a fresh new piece through the wing window.

Got creative to get this thing going with no help.

tape and ratchet straps to hold cages together as you build. it's looking good! bend tech is a super useful program for a one time licence fee for sure.

I was suprised how quickly I took to it, it’s similiar to what I use to design drain lines in a topographic layer; I just didn’t know I was using CAD, like bend tech, it’s petty user friendly.
I’m sure there are more advanced things, I do see limitations to this but appreciate just being able to get going with it.

The 3d stuff really messes with me coming from Solidworks, but it is pretty intuitive once you get it figured out. Cage is looking great!

Got it out for its maiden voyage this evening. Been a long time coming. But feels like a victory, albeit very late.

Got it up to maybe 35, brakes aren’t that great yet. Odometer says 1.1 miles, a quarter mile at a time.
Overall very happy with it, but it’s louder than I had hoped. We’ll see what we can do.
Lots of ups and downs these last few weeks just trying to get stuff done, but it seems to be happening. Very anxious to get it out and shook down. See what breaks.

Have to build the roof and tons of little things, but my goal it to roll it out done and right. Probably impossible but aim small miss small.

Only thing I can think of that might be a major problem is the fact that I haven’t given the first thought to sway bars.

Hurray!!! Great success and congratulations!!! I can’t wait to see it in a few weeks. Keep going!

I’ve made progress every day. But today feels like progress.
Working bugs out of electrical, roll cage properly in, seats in for hopefully last time, attending YouTube University to start fiberglassing roof section together.

Hey with your fortune lately you are well on your way! It will come together, with better parts than ever!
I appreciate your snorkel posts, have looked them up multiple times to come up with my hideous creation. Take the time and yours will be great.

Those look like convertible BMW seats. I installed a set that looks very much like those in my 69 Camaro convertible. They look very nice in your truck.
Yes, BMW M3 off eBay, $1400 all in for 4 shipped from California to Indiana. We did leather repair work and dyed them from gray to that chocolate brown. They really pop with that tan interior. 12 way electric with heat.

Got it out for about 10 miles, have a list of issues, some expected some not.
Going to put a hydroboost brake system on. Half expected this.

Fuel leaks, and lack of power. Leaks fixed, took intake off turbo and drove with good power, might be filter, might be the long snorkel, will diagnose more tomorrow.

It’s loud. Thinking it won’t be bad in cab when we get it buttoned up, but not going to make friends in campsites if I leave early in the morning.

Have a small exhaust leak at the manifold to head, previously helicoiled crooked, we tried to straighten it out. It’s on the bottom of number 6 so we pull the engine or pull the cab…

Might need sway bars. The passengers were scared cornering.

Great first real drive.
Stuffed all 4 corners, climbs anything without hesitation and then you engage the ORD Magnum box, well it feels unstoppable.

It has what I consider a crazy amount of body roll when cornering. Need to get some interstate time with it if I’m driving out to SAS, mixing it up with semi’s in the wind could be interesting.

Any suggestions on sway bars vs none, disconnects, etc?

Overall love how it drives, not feeling any under or over steer, seems to go where I’m thinking I want it to go. Got it up to almost 80 for a mile on a state highway and I was worried about doing that but it felt solid.

Apparently gotta do a rear main seal so that’s a bummer.

Roof coming along.
