The engine is tiny compared to any Toyota I-6 or V-8. It's almost the form factor of a 4 cylinder. A lot going on there. Will be interesting to see the long term usage results of this engine considering it is a completely new design and based on Toyota's new global engine architecture.

One thing I noticed is that intake pipe and the exhaust being mighty close to each other on the back of the engine. I'm sure there's a fair bit of shielding and it's been tested extensively but I'm thinking two turbos on a smallish diesel will cause some toasty EGTs.

Yes this is really interesting. That engine looks daunting for a DIY at home guy - that’s for sure.

Agreed. Fully computerized. Piezo-electric injectors. Electronically-controlled IP.

It’s a modern 21st century high-tech engine.

Would love to see videos of them performing destructive testing……

Rear calipers with electric brake look like they’ll bolt right onto a 80 series rear axle.

The 1HD-FTE 100 series has had electronically-controlled IP since 1998 and that one even isn't common rail.

This engine will likely be the end game for internal combustion in the land cruiser. Don’t be surprised to see an electric motor replace it 15 years from now.
And by then, maybe good riddance.

I ran into this yt video recently and really enjoyed it myself.

I'm curious whether the TNGA-F chassis in the 300 LC/LX is sourced out of the same manufacturing plant as those fitted into the current gen Tundra out of TX. Same goes for the engine.

Even in the 200 series, though the LC and Tundra shared the 3UR-FE, I couldn't quite nail down if there were any evidentiary differences in quality and materials between them.

No.

The tech in the chassis is really interesting. Different grades of steel in different places. Amazing how much goes into building cars like these.

That rear axle is also pure beef.

The new engine will be fine but the v8 made hell easy power with the right mods. It's interesting that Toyota are continuing to use the 1VD-FTV in the 70 series for the foreseeable future.

The 70 series is pretty much a vehicle from a different planet. There’s nothing normal or modern about it. Essentially it hasn’t changed in 30 years.
The 70 series is all about as little change as possible

Rear axle looks unchanged since the 80 series.

Front suspension looks identical to 200 sans aluminum knuckles which means they’re beef too.

Suspension geometry has changes throughout compared to the 200 series. As far as the rear axle goes you cannot buy them out of toyota I believe, still pending a decision on that. Much more bracing everywhere.

I'm kind of a kid expecting presents night after Christmas ( Even in the most ambitious dream for obtaining this engine).. Regards guys.
