For you guys curious about swapping FJC side mirrors onto your 60/62, here is a thread from a couple years back where it was investigated.l

Spook, I'm with you, I think the FJPretendingtobeacruiserbutreallya4runner mirrors look pretty good on a 60/2. I have aftermarket 62 mirrors now, so I've grown accustomed to the elephant ear look... :flipoff2:

Wiring would be relatively simple -- well, at least I think so, but I am a bit of a wiring geek. I'd think the mounting issue could be resolved with some HDPE (think plastic cutting board). It's pretty easy to form, and tough enough to live in the weather.

By the way I ordered up a set of motorcycle grip heater pads... I'll spend some time looking at the install options once I get them. I'm hoping to find a way to do it without removing (read: breaking) the glass)

As a former Land Rover (apologies for the profanity) owner, I know there are kits available in the UK to add heat to Defender mirrors. Defender mirrors are really simple, like 60 mirrors in 62 size. These would likely work well for adding heat to 62 mirrors and the aftermarket equivalents.

This link is to a seller that doesn't ship to the US, but there are others that will.

There are plenty of us recovering LR owners lurking around MUD :)
Just dont let the leather seats or illusion that if you do drive to somewhere remote like an African game preserve that it wont end in a scenario that doesnt involve major engine failure and you being eaten by jakals, suck you back in to that black hole!

Def interested in this thread. PO installed the black CC aftermarket mirrors, but passenger side is not moveable. Thanks for the link to the other FJC thread. They're a little goofy looking, but I kinda like them :)

It looks like it would be fairly easy to adapt wiring. Just be a matter of matching up the right leads to get the movement right. It looks like Toyota never changed their basic mirror control system over the years.

I'm curious what you've got in mind for using HDPE to make the mounting work. Sounds like it might be cleaner than what I had originally been planning to do.
