OK, getting close on a number of clean up items on my 62 dash in my 60 Project. The one thing that is kicking my butt is the terminal numbers on the FJ62 relay. Here’s the relay

Here are the terminals. Does someone have the terminal numbers or a picture showing wire colors on each terminal?

Here’s what I have found:

Note that the tags refer to the terminal locations on either the motor or the switch. Wire colors are correct for a combination of a 60 and a 62 (Blu-grn in 62 is Blu Red in a 60). The other lesson to take away is that the 62 switch doesn't have any 12v power to it where the 60 does. One will need to eliminate the power feed to the 62 switch and find another wire to run between the switch (terminal 2) and the #6 terminal on the relay. In affect, with a relay, the power switching moves from the switch to the new relay.

OK! Got the ol’ 60 wiring properly modified for the 62 relay and I have intermittent rear wiper function!! Geez - That took a bit of troubleshooting. My photo above has the wrong configuration on the relay - #4 and #6 needs to be swapped SW3 and SW2 are the opposite shown to get it right. Also one needs to run a fresh wire from the switch to the relay for the SW2 line. The 60 switches power while the 62 relay switches the power- your new 62 switch shouldn’t have power on it. So there is one more key item- go to the washer motor wire connector and cut the smaller of the double wires. Here’s the cut on the 60 wiring diagram (double red slashes)

. I used the cut wire to power the relay and motor. I am ordering the Toyota 4 pin connector (both male and Female) to plug the appropriate pieces into the existing harness to finish this off. I had a hard time finding the details on previous posts. Hope this helps.

Funny to find this. I was tearing into the 62 switch trying to manipulate how to make it work using the existing wiring, glad I'm not the only picky one.

Next on the list is perhaps swapping in the 62 multi function gauge and allowing the parking brake lamp to illuminate like it should.

Thanks for the note. As I posted this I got no real traffic - i guess this conversion isn’t that likely for a lot of folks, but its a real brain teaser that it needed to be recorded. Getting these in here is what makes MUD a great resource

Question about interpreting conflicts in FJ62 FSM: Here is what the rear wiper PIN numbers are suppose to be and also the instructions to test said relay. However, I am confused (it happens to often sometimes) about where to place what jumpers as there looks to be a conflict with the FSM jumper placement in the diagram and what the narrative says. Opinions and reasoning what to do or am I missing something??

The wiring details and discussion are really helpful though. I'm trouble shooting my non-working wiper motor now in my FJ62, but without a lot of auto electric experience. My motor works when I hook it up to a power source. There isn't any corrosion where the relay is located and the relay/switch operates the washer motor. I'm guessing that the relay and switch are both good? Perhaps a broken wire leading from the relay?

I'm going to YouTube how to test for continuity with a multi-meter and maybe I can test those wires leading from the relay to the motor? That's where your diagram and photos come in handy so thank you for that...

Hi @antichrist : So, to your question about the confusion on the FSM instructions for testing the relay. Step 1 is straightforward and I get a relay noise when the positive is on terminal 1 and the negative touches terminal 4 (on the relay). Steps 2 and 3 don't make sense to me at all. Also, the FSM manual for the FJ62 I downloaded from MUD doesn't have the instructions for testing the relay that you show...only a description of the front wiper relay.

I guess the question I have about step 2 is what to do with the negative lead from the power source. In this test are you simply energizing something on terminal two without a ground attached and then (without disconnecting the positive lead from terminal 2, you switch it to the negative on the power source? I tried that, without any sounds from the relay after 1 second or later after 3-5 seconds.

I"m not sure that means my relay isn't working or my brain isn't working. Help if you've solved this.
