Hey all,

In an effort to get my reverse lights working again, I’ve disassembled and cleaned my NSS (neutral safety switch) with some electronic cleaner from CRC per another threads recommendation.

After cleaning the parts and scrubbing down the exterior, I remounted it and when I went to start it, I got full lights on the dash, but no starter engagement or click.

I repeated the cleaning and mounting process with no luck.

Could it be in the wrong position when I’m putting it back? (see the photos below for the position I’ve been remounting in)

I’ve also looked at the contacts on the lever and the they seem a bit flush or low. The plate contacts also seem a bit worn.

Could I have damaged the switch when cleaning? Or is it too worn? It was starting just fine before I underwent this process, so I’m a little confused.

I’ve added pictures below of the state of things.

After watching some videos, it’s seems I’ve lost the springs that hold the two swing arm contacts in the right place. I’ll have to sweep through gravel to find them, wish me luck!

Old thread but since you’re on…

Did you ever find the springs?

I never did, I ended up getting a used part from cruiser parts and it plugged in and worked first go.
I’m about to clean mine up. Glad I got the heads up about the springs.

Thanks.

I ended up just adjusting mine and my new bright as nuclear fusion LED lights work great.

Also did the bronze bushing fix to the shifter last night so hopefully all is good for awhile.
