Here is a potential solution. View attachment 3915662
I bought the conversion kit from cool cruisers of Texas. Came with new dryer (still has the little sight window), new O-rings, and the high and low side adapters. Got a new compressor and idler pulley from cruisers.net, and flushed the hoses and condenser separately as best as I could. The manifold I got from autozone didn’t fit the high side. I was perplexed. Returned the manifold and got one from O’reilys (loaner). It fit perfectly. Was able to vacuum for an hour and then vacuum test. Charged with R134a and everything is blowing cold. Put all new belts on while I was in there and cut my shroud in half. Genius move someone came up with a long time ago.

So I got a 68302 four seasons compressor like the original poster but definitely not the same pulley. Reason I'm replacing is because the clutch appears to be toast and it doesn't look like I can swap the clutch and pulleys. Am I missing something? Mounting points match up as does the face of the compressor housing, overall significantly shorter housing.

I also ordered a four seasons compressor from parts geek.com for my ‘89 FJ62. The bolt pattern matched, but the manifold for the a/c lines did not match. I read something about wrong part numbers from rock auto, but was desperate and hoping for the best. I ended up calling cruiserparts.net and talked to a guy there that confirmed he would send me a proper “aftermarket” compressor. Korean made I believe. Matched up perfectly and has been working great. About the same price I think. $325?
