ok ok ok what is the largest tires i can run on my stock rims, of an 82 fj60...??????
thanks
big al

stock rims are 15x6 and i wouldnt go more than a 10.5" wide tire.

I ran 32x11.50 BFg's on stock wheels for several years and had zero problems. I do think the ride is better on a 8" wheel tho.

alright so i got the width now how high can i go? or doesnt it matter i atleast want to fit 35s on it for a SOA

35's (Not availble skinnier than 12.5 AFAIK) would be squirrely, if not dangerous on a 6" rim, not to mention probably only wearing down the middle when at normal pressure.

Just get some 15x8 or 10 depending on width of tire Black Wagon wheels, something like $35 a peice.

35x10.5 Swanper SSR's :D

It would be the Pimp to prove me wrong. But thats got to be one squirrely tire on corners! I bet it would look cool though, i like skinnies on 40's.

ok clear this up for me i can run 35s by 10.5s but they would be retarded around turnss?? but ive heard you could run 12.5 on stock rims..... so where does that leave me.. im a lil lost here..

I don't know squirly or not, I don't find 33x9.5's on 6's squirly at all(on 2 40's and a 62) but yeah 35.....maybe....maybe not? Just spend the 150 bucks on new wheels(15x8) and run 35x12.5's.....with the flex of a SOA I think the 10.5's would be troulble off road.....and prolly look kinda not funny.

If you want to go bias ply, there are more choices in skinny tall tires. A Q78 is around 36" tall and probably 10.5" wide. I'm pretty sure Chef on here runs those on stock FJ40 wheels.

yeah they use to(and may still) make the Buckshot Mudder in that size......even in a radial I think.

some people pay to have their stock wheels widened but the cost is more than a set of 15x8 black rock crawlers. While I was waiting for a paticular vendor to ship my new wheels I had my 35x12.50 Km's mounted on the stock wheels just so I could drive it till my order showed up. I had no problems but considered it a temporary fix.

on stock wheels...

on 15x8 black rock crawlers...
