so im swapping out my motor and desmogging the replacement. should i have mark in socal rebuild my stock carb or order the racer city non oem new carb? distributor will be stock unless its required to send in to mark for the desmog.
im a noob here as its my first fj60

I vote for Mark's rebuild, he'll tweak it, for max potential
@65swb45

Does he do distributors also.

I've had two City Racer's on my truck in 85,000 miles. Both experienced float failures and poor accelerator pump seals that caused massive leaks, that then turned to stumbles. They both became junk parts carbs.

Find an OEM core and send it to @mattressking

I'm running one of his now and it works great.

Anyone know where I can find a spare dizzzy for an 85 fj60?

Curious best places to look besides mud.
Would vendors or junk vendors be the way to go usually, and how can you tell if the dizzy is still functional.
Thanks,
Dan

JimC, Mark, or @matressking and I think you will be happy.

Mark rebuilt my 60s carb and it runs great. I’m sending him my other 2F carb and my 3F as well once I get my rebuild kit from overseas.

Why did you buy a kit form overseas mght I ask?

Rebuild the original carb. There ain't no better carb for a stock 2F than the OEM unit. And I am NOT one of the "gotta be OEM" fanatics either.

Mark...

Not sure if this is an option for you, but I ordered and ran this set-up while my distributor was being rebuilt by Jim C. (about two months) Then after getting my distributor back I posted the hei distributor in the MUD classifieds and sold it for 70 dollars less then I paid. Ran great and my 60 was not down while I waited. Just a thought.

long story short the City racer carb leaked after a week. Get better bolts if you go this route so you can get it tighter before you start it.

Needing to rebuild my AISIN. if anyone knows of an outfit who could do it ASAP let me know

Rebuilding the AISIN carb yourself is not too difficult. User Pinhead has some great step by step videos on YouTube. My tips are to be very well organized, stay calm, and place a white beach towel over your workbench when doing it. Also, take pictures and make sketches/ notes before and during disassembly. Do not over torque the bolts.

Absolutely nothing wrong with using one of the trusted vendors mentioned…well, except for the wait time. BUT I’m totally with @orbittron on this. I’ve used two of the mentioned vendors twice over the years. Turned out perfect both times.👍

But I’ve also rebuilt the last one myself using Pin Head’s videos. It is not that hard…tedious but NOT difficult.

Find Pin Heads video (easy to find), get a rebuild kit from @cruiseroutfit and a gallon of carb cleaner from LAPS, and after your carb is cleaned/ready to work on, you can very easily complete the job in 2 days - 3 max, even for a novice. Up, adjusted & running a week after you start the process. And you will have learned a lot…which might help you in the future.

Already disassembled it is the issue.... Had fewer 's for sure a year and a half ago when i pulled the thing apart!

I'm missing the needle valve spring and pin, and a few of the small components. I couldn't find a comprehensive kit anywhere that had this stuff, any recommendations on that? @cruiseroutfit do you sell a FULL kit with these small parts and the throttle body gasket that goes right in the middle of the carb?(see photo for the area im talking about)

Also, I thought guys sent to the carb GURUS partly because they "desmog" them....

Post up in the Classifieds section of MUD.
Post 9 from @OGBeno is what I suggest if you need parts. Post up in Classifieds. You need a parts carburetor. Get a complete carb & between it & the one you currently have you s/b able to rebuild what you have & get on the road.
