Hey everyone,

This is version 2. First version was posted in Sl33py's LED thread here. Lot of info came from that thread.

If you have any additions or suggestions please let me know and I will try to incorporate it. My goal is to get this in the FAQ if people feel it is worth it.

Thanks scary, I hope to get it further along before all is said and done. I would like to get the different bulbs you can use for each light all in one place so someone can come along and plot thier path quickly.

FAQ for sure. I just finished 1/2 hour ago with the upgrade. Wish i had your chart earlier. It is spot on..... for what i did

I must be missing something, and most likely very obvious, but WHICH led? When I go to superbrightled, there are multiple choices for a 1156/1157. 9, 19, wide, narrow?

Anyone have and further direction? Is bigger better in this case?

torreyho, what lights are you trying to replace exactly?

@TAURO75, really??? Its kind of a large image... Anyone else not seeing it?

Specifically the back up light and the stop/tail. Which 1157 LED equivalent? The 1157R-24 and the 1157W-24? Or some other variation?

So, the 1157 is just the bulb type. Really any of them will work in theory. I haven't yet done them yet (Next on my list) but I will be using the 1157-R18-T for the Stop/Tail and the 1157-x18-T for the Reverse. The "x" in the bulb for the reverse is a placeholder. There is more than one white to pick from. All the different LED counts basically equate to beam pattern and intensity.

That much I have gotten. 1157-R18-T means a red 1157. What does the "18" and the "T" refer to? 18 LEDs and T shaped? On the superbiright site there isn't a 18 bulb LED, just 12, 18, 24, etc.

Is there another good source of LED car bulbs? I don't mind experimenting, but reordering delays things a bit.

Thanks.

Yes, the "18" and "T" mean it has 18 LED's and is T shaped.

On the superbiright site there isn't a 18 bulb LED, just 12, 18, 24, etc.

I don't follow? the 1157-R18-T is an 18 LED Bulb as an example.

Did you look at the specs for the bulb? 18 High Power SMD LED 1156/1157 Tower Bulb Specifications

And yes there are other places to get LED's. Just Google LED car bulbs and you will find a number of sites. Even your local autoparts store carries some. But, Superbright has great quality bulbs for really good prices.

Thanks for setting me straight. I had looked over the site many, many times without being able to find the 18T you listed.

I have spotted a possible error. For the back up light, you list 1156 as the stock, as it is. But you list 1157 as the replacement LED. That isn't going to work.

If I had pulled the bulb, I would have discovered the error, but I didn't. Anyone want 2 1157 bulbs in white?
