Can somebody tell me how many bulbs are in the dash? i only want to order them once and want to make sure i get enough.

Thanks!

Hi, and sorry for the high jack but it relates to LED. I recently installed LEDs for my brake lights. The small metal connectors on the male end of the bulb matched those in the female end on the truck, however, when I depress the brake pedal the front white running lights come on. When I take my foot off the brake they turn off.
This began happening after the LED install.

Any suggestions?

Faulty grounds. Temorarily swap those LEDs with the standard incandescent bulb and see if the problem goes away. If it does, the weirdness you are experiencing is very likely due to high resistance in the tail light ground circuit. The electricity is flowing towards a path of least resistance. .through your running lights.

Many things on the 60 are grounded at common junctions located in the wiring harness and from that junction a larger wire runs to true body ground. Over time, due to either corrosion or most often excessive current, those common ground junction plug thingys can start creating mayhem.

Sorry to drag this back up but I have been searching for a while and this is the best I could find...does anyone have the lighting guide saved for the FJ60? The one on the first page is not visible or a dead link.

Here's one that was listed on either this thread or another. Good starting point, but some of the choices are open to personal taste.

Personally the only LED I like in the gauge cluster is a clear for the tach. All others get new incandescent. Looks best to my eyeballs.

Also best to keep incandescent bulbs for the turn flasher bulbs.

Please post. Looks like the attachment is down.

My LED experience for my 1987 FJ60 from SuperBrightLED's:

The only trouble I ran into were the brake lights and reverse lights. I ordered 1156 and 1157 base bulbs but the socket itself was too shallow to push in far enough to twist and lock. For my 1987 FJ60, these below wouldn't work. Did anyone else have this trouble?

Reverse, part #: 1156-W26-CBT

Brakes, part #: 1157-R26-CBT

Hey Theron, did you ever find bulbs that fit better than these?

After reading everyone’s posts, this is my experience/part list.
Ultimately I went by Theron's input on the subject for side markers and then figured things out on my own for the brake and reverse lights. The one thing nobody mentions is overall bulb dimensions. The stock bulbs in the rear(brake, reverse, and signal) are all 1.75" long. So if you get a bulb that's more than .03" or .05" longer, you run the risk of it not fitting. Superbright lists each bulb's dimensions on their site and they all vary depending on number of diodes. That being the case, the more diodes the more likely the bulb won't fit.
Also, it's a good idea to get some resistors. Otherwise, the signals flash faster than normal and cause a slight pulse in the brake lights.
Anyway, here's the list of part numbers for each bulb I used:

Front Parking Lights:
Part no.: 67-W15

Side Markers Amber:
Part no.: WLED-AHP5

Side Markers Red:
Part no.: WLED-RHP5

License Plate Lights:
Part no.: 67-W15

Turn Signals (Front and Rear):
Part no.: 1156-A18-T

Reverse Lights:
Part no.: 1156-CW27-T

Brake Lights:
Part no.: 1157-R27-T

Also, since some of you were talking about headlights figure I’ll put what I have too:
Truck Lite 27270C (These are the non-heated model)

I had no idea the rear defrost switch was illuminated. My cab is darrrrkk at night. Just reg ol' faded guage cluster, but I upgraded a new incandescent AC bulb and that's much brighter. Since I don't have a radio, anything else that illumnates as you drive at night? (not counting flashers, signals, 4wd lights)

Speaking of, anyone source the 2 LEDs in the rear defrost switch?

Great info in this thread!

I sourced all new exterior bulbs and 4 load resistor kits for the turn signals from super bright less.com

Which Load Resistor kits did you get ?

Why is the cargo light switch and dome light switch a different part number? Could you schange witch out the dome light for another cargo light switch?
