I really like the aluminum with it's smooth surface. Adding or rather, taking out all the vinyl/fabric panels in the back adds a lot of noise potential (I would think). With this surface covering them with some sort (or the factory covering) or sound deadening would kill that sound. I've always liked the idea of these but was not too excited with the prospect of having all the plastic or metal interior surfaces.
I can't buy just yet but I really like this option.

I don't think you have to worry about extra noise, mine is filled with stuff and it doesn't make a sound.

Agree with other commenters about taking the time getting it right straight out of the gate. I am one of those potential customers who would not see it as a plus that clanking etc. could be easily fixed with tape or foam.
For me though I would initially be more interested in spending the money on side panels. Looking forward to what you create for that area

I'm currently sourcing new latches and hardware, It will take about a week or two for everything to arrive.

Yeah, if this becomes a a thing, I am for sure on board. Can't wait to see the new latch design. I'm with the others that don't mind paying for a quality product. I like what I'm seeing so far. Excited to see the final product!

TEASER!!!!!!

Waiting for latches to come in.

I'd be down for both the side panels and tailgate lid. Looks nice @socallove !

Looks great! Any extra storage helps. I keep a tool box in the cargo area now that could easily be transitioned to the tailgate. I just can't chop my 60 up yet. It's been carefully restored to stock so I hate to hack it up just yet. Eventually, I will and at that time, this mod would be perfect.

My only suggestion... I think a black powder coated diamond plate would look bad ass. But, I realize you can't offer these in every possible combination of color and materials. I also agree with the others, it needs to have a clean and finished look to it. Some guys will buy it with the raw edges, but you'll get more orders if this looks like it came directly from the factory in regards of fit and finish. Either way, great work and thank you for innovating and engineering mods for our 60 series!

Got another buyer here. My tail gate is open and waiting
will be interested in the side panels as well since all my cardbox covers are gone
