I was tackling my broken manifold stud debacle and came across this fun item.

The FJ45 has a Non USA air cleaner on it. I want to say it has a FJ55 ambulance air cleaner, but haven't verified it. Here are some pics of the stock filter I found in it as well. Think I can get it from the dealer :grinpimp:

the filter looks just like the one on my 45, I just got a WIX at the local parts store.

Those look a bit different than my 66. Mine's an oil bath like most of the early 40's I've seen. I have no idea if it's original, but most everything on my truck is.

Bull, I have a couple of those air cleaner assemblies at the shop. I refer to them as firetruck aircleaners, because they came off of fire engine motors I bought some years back.

The filters are about 9/16ths of an inch shorter than the standard F engine filter elements. If you put a standard element in the housing, the wingnut will not reach the center stud. Not sure, but I think SOR is the only place that you can get a filter element for that housing.

See ya next week!

Couldn't you just tap the stud down a bit more?

Erik, the stud is too short. There's nothing to tap. You of all people should understand all about short studs. :flipoff2:

And if you lengthen the stud and install a taller element, then the other end of the air cleaner will not dress properly over the carb. :frown:

Dangit.. Foiled again by the Zen Master..
Was just asking cause at one time I was adapting a BJ60 top cover on my FJ62 air cleaner and had to tap the stud down to fit..
