Hi guys, my Fj40 already lifted (not sure how many inches, 3-4 I guess) but it is too hard to me. I would like to replace my current suspension to an OME old man emu light duty.
Can I have 3.5 inch, OME Suspención on my Fj40 or it can only be 2.5 inches? Is there a work around to achieve that?

OME only comes in 2.5". Currently your shackle angle is mostly causing your bumpy suspension, though our trucks will never ride smooth. You can only get your suspension to good enough. The OME springs are better. Then get longer shackles. You'll need to cut off your suspension mount points and reweld with shackles at 45* if you can. I couldn't quite get 45* with 5.8" shackles. I set them so when the suspension hit bump stop the shackle was flat against the frame at the same time, lots of trial (tack welds) and error.

Thank you very much, that's what I needed. So, are you saying I can go with d 2.5 in OME kit and do de changes you suggested above?
i Need to explain that to the person it is helping me with that.
Could you share photos of your suspenstion work? Or can you show where the changes go on the pictures below?

You have more going on there than a typical spring lift. Your springs have been moved above the axles. Search here for “SOA suspension” (SOA stands for Spring Over Axle) for help understanding exactly what you have. Depending on how the spring over axle conversion was done, it isn’t going to be as easy as just swapping in shorter springs. In fact, with the flat arch on those springs, the 2.5” OME springs will probably give you more lift, not less.

If the SOA was done poorly, that is probably the cause of some of your harsh ride problems. Done well, that setup can drive and steer pretty nicely. Done poorly, it can be downright scary.

The pics of the first truck are a spring under, the second set are spring over. Are they the same truck before and after a
suspension change or are they two different trucks? A spring over will net 6" lift with flat springs. The first truck is probably
a 2 1/2~3" lift , shackle forward. It has black rims and the shocks are running red boots in a standard boot up configuration. The arched springs would give it 8~10" lift if used in a spring over. The second setof pics are a different undercarriage. Spring over, flatter springs,
Shackle reversal, inverted Bilsteins, Trail gear knuckles with hi steer and HD tie rods and drag links. The rear has a traction bar.
most of the parts for the work were probably sourced either through Ruff Stuff or Trail Gear

Hi C6H1206 and Icwizard, the first set of pictures is from my car (current state) the second one is not my car, it is from a 3.5" lift I found to use as a reference, so I can get more info from C6H1206.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. However your answers are very acertive and informative.
I was not aware of the SOA suspension.
I have more info to think about. However I'm going to stick to the 2.5 OME and then I'm going to see if I really need an extra inch.
Thanks.
