Allo all, well,a couple of months ago I got a lil shorty 40 SOA project rig for the pricely sum of $150 AUD...which is the price of a full tank of fuel in my daily driver HSV.

It already had the SOA conversion with double arm steer, extended shock mounts, rear anti wrap bar etc etc,its had the cash spent on it a few years ago.
The old 2F was long gone, and has had a aussie ford 250 crossflow 6 cylinder engine conversion in its place...it was blown up though...but luckily I had a low KM spare engine layin around that i kept tripping over....heres the first of some pics, and is the start of my 40 story....heres a few pics of it the day we towed it home on the F100...which coincidentaly also has the aussie 250 crossflow conversion :P

Hi, Looks like a good rig to start with, can't beat the price. Mike

Well, origional plan was to wreck it and make some $$$ out of it...then I started looking past the hacked doors and rough looks...and delved a little deeper....first thing I noticed was the complete lack of rust...the floorpans and chassis are immaculate, and has very little body rust...the SOA conversion has been well done, with a lot of good fabrication...the aussie engine conversion, same deal, well done with quality parts....so I bought a rusty donor ute, with most of the parts I need, and the work begins.

BTW all work is done on the street outside home...have no good flat workspace at home to play in...

Then I started pulling the old, shagged motor out,and putting a good, low kilometer 250 xflow back in it...

Wish more of the pickups were here stateside. Saw a cherry one that had just been frame off'd by the look of it being flat bedded through Northern CA a few months ago... ahh.

your neighbors must love you...lol...good work

Where in Tassie are you? If you ever take that beast to SA the cops will have an APB out on you before you leave Bordertown! Great rig, really clean.

Im over risdonvale chamba,on hobarts eastern shore...got the day off work tomorrow so Ill be able to get some work done on it.
The neighbours have just got used to me and my ghetto gutter workshop :),no point complaining coz I just wont listen :)

Wish I had stumbled across you last time I was in Hobart. Oh well, next time. I also wish I had your neighbours-mine in Adelaide would complain when I used a drill after 7. Yet another reason I'd rather live in Hobart than anywhere else in Australia!

Hey you need to flip you bez--

Oh wait.

Well, had a bit of a lazy day on it today...everyone knows the "past halfway" feeling, where ya are just sick of the sight of the bloody car!!!.
Swapped over intake manifold with another, set the weber carby up on it,new vacuum hose and brake booster hose, new spark plugs...just a few things,no pics today...
Bodylift will be coming out before I get it inspected for rego, but its handy at the moment while im working on it...heaps of clearance underneath :)

Underbonnet pretty much complete, need to tidy up the wiring and plumbing a bit..

Well,what a complete barstard of a coupla days :/

Wiring...botched PO taped up joins,trailer plug butchery,corroded fuse block contacts,corroded light sockets...its a bloody nightmare :/.

ive been sorting it out and fixed a lot of issues, and have most things working...but the tailights are doing my head in...only getting power to the passenger indicator, and drivers parklight...got no power running to all other circuits...only had an hour to play with it tonight, reinstalled tailights after replacing the drivers side with a good secondhandy and cleaning up the sockets, and only getting those 2 lights working,I put the multimeter across the plug..all other circuits are dead :/.

Ran outta light and had to give the kids tea,ill bugger around with it tomorrow again
