After a seized 2F engine (failed oil pump), I have received my rebuilt engine. I installed the engine and 4 speed transmission. I did not install the clutch fork as I thought I recalled its removal prior to removal of the engine and transmission.

Now after approximately 2 hours, a couple of beverages, and a few choice words, I been been unsuccessful in getting the clutch fork reinstalled.

Did I make a blunder which can only be corrected by separation of the engine and transmission or is there a trick to installation from my current situation?

Thanks for input.

I thought about this before I installed my transmission a couple months ago. I could not think of a way to get the Y through the hole with the transmission in place, so i decided the best thing would be to stick it thru the hole from the inside, with the pivot bolt removed, and mount the tranny. I'm sorry, this is no help.

ive done it before several times with the tranny in the truck,im pretty sure the pivot had to be removed to make it fit .good luck

Thanks for the input.

I'll try again in about a week (I need a break from the frustration). I still think that I removed the clutch fork prior to separating the engine and transmission. If not, this will be one of many tough learning experiences.
